If you had $100 to spend on embroidery 'stuff', what would you be getting?

I have a machine that has a 4X4 hoop and it has been broken and glued back together several times so I would get 2 Hoops! one for a spare!

Well, I actually won a $100 GC from one of the embroidery design companies last month:) Before winning, I had a long list of wants. However, having won the GC I am being very careful and spending it slowly. Watching the balance dwindle down isn't any fun but it sure is fun getting new fonts and designs! Like toogie, I also need to restock my stabilizers and agree that it is not a fun way to spend money ;)

Totally agree that spending money on stabilizers is not fun :) Buying fabrics, threads, sewing notions, designs and memberships now that is fun!

asterixsew by asterixsew 23 Dec 2014

I am not offering any money I am just interested how you would spend a set amount. Thanks for your input

I knew you weren't offering us actual money, I was just joking with you.-Toogie

Interesting comments but I would need a lot more than $100. Have a feeling that my machine will have to go to the Doctor.

I am with you, I have two machines in the Tech Hospital - one is an easy fix according to the Tech the other, my D1 is worn out - so looks like I will be shopping for a new machine. Can't live without the larger hoops and my other machine is only a 4x4.

I would head to the notions area to get anything I could use for machine embroidery. Oh I can not imagine how much fun that would be! Suzanna

A class to improve working techniques, a good digitize program with tablet and stylus, threads of all colors and ..... I think that I spent all the $100.00

asterixsew by asterixsew 19 Dec 2014

Please what digitising programme is available with stylus and tablet for $100?

mi30kaja by mi30kaja 19 Dec 2014

Also I would get a digitizing program if a good one was available for $100.

darenluan by darenluan 19 Dec 2014

Hahaha. Obviously none. But perhaps sometimes we are like children who would like to buy the world with only a dollar?

Hmm, $100.00 isn't enough for my new hoop, so I would spend it on designs.

The iron that raises itself on feet. I have RA, and every time I have to put the iron down on it's bottom from flat is a REAL pain.

I would love that too! I hope your RA is under control. My husband has RA too. Hugs Suzanna

In this swedish shop you can get special things. Don´t know if she sends abroad. I sure would spend some money on her tear away "fabrics" and leather imitacion to sew bling-letters

I would put it in a pot to save up for a scan and cut machine. Do you know that Brother's scan and cut is much cheaper in the USA than in the UK?

marianb by marianb 19 Dec 2014

Almost everything is cheaper in the USA, it's the international postage that hurts

Another nice questions!
i would love every color of thread! Am nowhere close to that yet.
or maybe the responsible thing and service my machine.Let all add an imaginary extra 0 so we can go wild ;)

You should see mine, 200 anyone to clean mine?

lique by lique 19 Dec 2014

I love cleaning my sewing room as I come across lots of hidden treasurers. My room is due for a big renovation early next year (Had a leak and the ceiling needs replacing) painting and a new floor covering (Not decided yet, but no carpet!!!!) I look forward to having everything out of the room and everything sorted again!!!!

A good organizer would be worth every penny or £100

$100 won't buy much for the Viking! Unless you can find a deal somewhere! But I do love all my hoops!

I have a Brother 1500D. Will Google the hoops when I get more time.

I have the accuquilt and lots of dies and I don't use it so thinking of selling mine as I have now bought the scan & cut and I suppose that will stay on the shelf

berny by berny 19 Dec 2014

Are you in the UK, I am undecided if I should buy brother scan and cut ....

raels011 by raels011 19 Dec 2014

no Australia and I will learn the Scan and cut

From the question I asked I think you need both..

well I would buy some really lovely Duponi Silk! Enough colours to sew out the 9window block Nativity from Anita Goodesigns!

by Patricia109 18 Dec 2014

You do like to pose interesting questions. Well done.
What would I buy? Hmm, I currently have a wish list on my budget spread sheet and am slowly working my way through it.
$100 would buy me 2/3 of the basic software I am looking at or a few bit & bobs such as Crystal Organza, set of 5 colours. Or maybe that Thread Stand so that I can line up my threads without knocking them off the table as I do some time. YES! the thread stand wins! that leaves $AU10 which would pay for a packet and half of embroidery needles.
That's me done.

I might get a design set or two or maybe a new hoop. I might get the lower knife replaced on my embroidery machine or maybe just buy lots of stabilizer.

Oh and a machine riser...so I could stitch large bags and other such items easier (well I hope it would be easier)

gerryb by gerryb 18 Dec 2014

Hey, what's a machine riser? I've missed that!

rescuer by rescuer 19 Dec 2014

Google: embroidery machine riser
There are several that sell them or you can get the "plans" for free if you or someone you know is good with wood.
Just remember that whatever you put under the machine must go over the embroidery arm without restricting it.

Some of the embroidery designs that are more expensive I think. Somehow I have a real problem spending over $ 5.00 for a design.

darenluan by darenluan 19 Dec 2014

Thanks God that Cute exist. When I started in embroidery, I knew nothing about embroidery machines or designs and I paid up to $ 25.00 for each. Now I thought that I should not buy them because I only used them a few times in the past.

Stabilizers, threads, maybe an extra hoop... :) How about yourself...what would you purchase.

No idea but thought I would ask the question and see what happens. I bought 2 extra hoops about 6 months ago so don't need any more as I have enough and I recently restocked on stabiliser .Thanks for replying
