173584Toogie, thank you so much for your review. I haven't checked if others have shared information like this but I think it is invaluable! We all have "pipe dreams" about a notion or two and it is good to hear what others have experienced using them.
836Toogie, I have had both the circle attachment and the flower tool. I got rid of the circle attachment as I couldn't get it to work - I use my embroidery machine for circles.
You do not need to buy an expensive circular tool. There are many tips on how to make one with common stationary items. I guess google would help you there if you have your heart set on it.

1941I have something similar for a Singer machine, but like others I have not used it. It came with one of my sewing machines along with an extension table. Have you tried using a fringe foot? That is suppose to make pretty flowers and was suggested to use with mine

Have no idea what a fringe foot is, so no, I haven't tried that. Do you have a photo of the foot?
13287Remember to move the thumb tack (do not use a push pin as it seems to distort the fabric) Use the exact same hole in the fabric for the tack. You change the size of the circle by moving the tack. If you move the fabric only, you will get a different circle that crosses the original circle.

57620I'm a tad tardy with this, as I have been challenged to sit down at the computer at all. I'm wondering if you managed to figure it out. I bought one of the flower makers many years ago, and was very disappointed. All it did was bunch up the fabric and create a mess. I ended up giving it away. It is in a better place now. :) Good luck with yours.

If you thought it was so bad you should have done this...My husband kept having trouble with a weed-eater. He told my son the last time he worked on it, if he couldn't fix it, bust it up in a thousand pieces before he took it to the dump. He didn't want anyone else bringing it home and going through what he did, trying to get it to run.-lol- Seriously, I am sorry you didn't like yours either. I used tear-a-way underneath, but when you tear it away, it distorts the flower, if you did manage to make a good one.

67271Do you have an old-fashioned thumbtack and sticky tape? 1. Place a ruler next to your needle and measure half the distance of the circle you want. If you want a 7" circle, you will measure 3.5" away from the needle. Place your thumbtack here, with the point up and the flat part of the tack against the machine bed. Secure it with the sticky tape.
2. Place the center of your fabric over the point. If you want to cover the point I used a small piece of cork (from the wine bottle of course) and pressed it over the point. 3. Pick any design. 4. Press your foot pedal and stitch. The feed dogs turn the fabric for you; you do not have to guide it in any way. 5. If the fabric is flimsy, you may want to starch it or put stablizer under it before the stitch-out. 6. I made more designs in the circle by decreasing the size of the circle and used different designs for each circle I made. This is how we did it many, many years ago before all these expensive gadgets were "invented". Can't get any easier than this and it certainly can't be any cheaper! So each time you want to decrease or increase the circles, you move the tack? Is that right? Like to make a circle in a circle.

Yes, just move the tack only. Keep the fabric on it. You can make lots of circles within circles. I have one with 5 circles of different designs. I started with a 7" circle. Just be careful to keep enough space between each circle so one design doesn't touch another. Making the same design for all the circles keeps a symmetry that you may want for a different look. Have fun.

67271I have seen a similar attachment idea, on Nancy Z's show. It was much bigger and the size adjustable too.
24276I have one but have not used it as it will only fit my embroidery machines -- and I don't take them apart long enough to use it.
They are great for making eyelets and small flowers. I have a link to Nancy's about it with hints on how to use it (but look for her video on it) and one from a Cute conversation about it. It was the only conversation I could find concerning this foot.
I would love to get the circular attachment but it is $130 for my Babylock and I would need to get a new sewing or embroidery machine to use it -- as it will still only work on my Esante machine.

I should have investigated more,but oh well, it wasn't expensive. The 'circular foot' is what I thought this was, but this is the 'flower stitch foot', so Cuties, heads-up. Don't make the same mistake I did.

234256I bought one of these, years ago (late 1990s). Been so long since I've used it that I don't remember much, but I think you are right that it only makes small circles. I seem to remember that I was disappointed about that, too.
I didn't use mine much, but eventually the spring broke anyway, so it doesn't work any more. I think I might still have it, but now if I want to embellish something, I just use an embroidery design, instead. So much easier, and the results are more reliable.

I just called Home Sew and they said if I was not happy with the product, just send it back for a refund or credit. I have to pay shipping though. Probably wouldn't be worth the trouble since I paid $12.95 for it.

The one I thought I was buying, made circles, it looked like about 4 in on down. You were able to use your reg machine decorative stitches. If I go to anything besides a ziz zag it looses the look. Haven't tried you tube.

Hope someone here has used one of these before and can help, I have one that does circles large and small that can be used with most any stitch.. 45917I think what you wanted is a circle attachment. Can do huge circles and you can use all kinds of decorative stitches. It is usually quite expensive. Most brands have their own. Nancy's notions sells a generic one but it doesn't seem too easy to use.

To make large circles just tape a thumbtack (point up) to the left of your needle. Poke the thumbtack through the center of where you want your circle. Sew. The thumbtack keeps your fabric rotating in a circle as you sew. Very pretty if you use decorative stitches. It helps to starch the fabric to keep it flat, and also sew slowly.

Can you or someone who knows this method, post step by step photos of this? I think I am suppose to place the thumb tack in the center, of where I want my circle, on my fabric. I don't understand 'where' or 'how' to take it to my machine or how that helps make a circle. Just call me dense today.
