wow this is quite unique & a lovely thing to have. hugs Loralye
Very nice and special. I love the old stuff and save them when I find them at yard sales
What a wonderful find. I have a box of my grandmothers. The best thing I had was my great grandmother's treadle sewing machine with the papers where it was purchased. My mother kept it for me and when she died, my father remarried. My stepmother put it outside and didn't tell us what she had done. The weather ruined it. Now I have room for it as we had a house built and moved from the mobile home, but no sewing machine.
I have the exact same one. It had been my Grandmothers and my Mother gave it to me, too. I'm thinking it must be over 100 years old.
It's amazing all the gadgets and helpers sewers have now compared to the past. We surely could not fit our modern sewing kits into one this small.
This is something that is very special. Love when I find something like that. Arlene
what a lovely treasure, especially because it was your grandma's !
Now I know - from this box comes your inpiration... :-)
How Fun! Now you need a shadow box, a pic of your mom and Grandma, and it will hang beautifully in your "new" sewing room! :)
Flowers to All!!
Oh what a find if I had that I would not for get it .so nich to have such a treasure.
hugs Lenamae
What a find. Now add a picture of your Grandmother's and your Mom's picture if you frame it .Maybe a piece they did also.
It's so much fun to find these treasures. I have a tin of tatting thread, shuttles, and a few handkerchiefs that my grandmother made. And loads of notions such as needle packs for 10 cents or so.

Nice Carolyn! It's so nice to have treasures from our Mom's stash. I have a few things from mine too.
How wonderful, Carolyn! Thank you for sharing these pictures with us.
Hugs, Lidia
What a blast from the past... they are great little reminders of what was used, I agree with Castelyn frame them for your wall then you'll be reminded of your grandmother when they're looked apon...
Oh my word. What a find, you should frame it and put it up in your sewing room. Hugs Yvonne xxx
What a neat find. The needles are thick and looks like they were for leather or sewing shoes back together like Alma thought. Does that part with the light colored thread slid down into the other part? Got interested and this looks so similar to yours. http://www.collectiblejewels.com/...
Treasures are so much fun to find. That is really cool how it holds it all, Thanks
What a find.write down the story of these items with Grandmothers and Mothers name and keep it all together. This is a part of your family history and should be shared with the future generations.
Carolyn, I am so glad that you 'forgot' about this kit. Otherwise you may not have had it to show to us.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Wonderful, wonderful treasures. Compare the 'sewing kit' with what we have today. That first needle looks like your grandma sewed her own hessian aprons for washing day, hessian slippers, repairs to carpets, maybe her own hessian floor mats and the list goes on. What tales that thimble could tell!
AlmaG.
She sewed anything and did all the wedding gowns in her wee town called Feversham,Ontario
An antique, for sure.....now don't tell me.I am not going to go to Canada this summer, cause you have been organizing!--Lol
Oh Carolyn, what a wonderful surprise to find this treasure. I bet your heart is singing! I just love seeing your newfound treasure. How special!
I love buried treasure.......Very neat find in the treasure box of boxes of the sewing pirate.
How wonderful to find a treasure such as this. I wonder what the thread was used for as it is so thick. Thank you Carolyn for this post. Hugs Sarah.
