LAST BABY KOOKABURRA!

I've been up early today as the last Kookaburra baby to leave the nest was "talking" to its parents for ages from about 5.30am!!!

I took a couple of pictures this morning, but most of them are from yesterday.

He/she is really cute. Can't wait for it to fly away and be free with the rest of its family. Love Chris

1. Just checking me out!
2. You still there!
3. Peekaboo I see you!
4. Mum and Dad keeping a watchful eye from the reserve.
5. Dad almost seems to be saying "Come on son it's about time you left the nest!"
6. Look, see, it's easy you just step on the edge and fly!
7. Hey, I'm still here!

I'm hoping it won't be too long before this one goes. He must be itching to get out and join his family. They are all out in the back reserve calling him/her. We've been so lucky to have 2 sets of babies since September 2013 - we will clean out the nest and hopefully they will return on the first week of September this year.

Thank you Chris for sharing this special experience with us. It has been wonderful to see the other side of the world and watch this family grow.

He/She is so cute. I do not think it wants to leave the nest. You are lucky to have two sets in the one season and to have them so close you can see them. Lovey pictures. I am not sure where the nests are around here. Shirley

Yes, I agree with you Shirley. I was commenting on that the other day as we've never had two sets of babies in the one year. Love Chris
