HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT MORSBAGS.COM?

If not then take a look at their site.
No its not a free embroidery site and no there are no designs BUT you may like to join in the fun and make a change to the way folk shop.
Morsbags is a registered charity and is even lottery funded. So how does it work? Well you get the design from the site to make a simple grocery tote, you add a tag to it and make a few more. then on January the 25th you go out and give them all away.
you can join a pod in your area if there is one or even start your own or simply go solo.
use up those old sheets and get the children involved by letting them draw pictures onto them with cheap wax crayons that once ironed on will set the colors and they will not wash out. (great idea for the young teens to personalise a simple top too) These make great brag bags for friends and families too not to mention that the young ones are kept busy whilst you cut and sew the bags. "O0H just look at what my little grandchild. has made me"
take a look and see if you could help stop the plastic bag pile from growing.

Looks like there are several folk who are willing to make a few bags perhaps we could have a gallery of them .
If you are in the UK and can only managed one or two thats fine as they all mount up and i am happy to send you a couple of tags to iron or sew onto the bags. PM me

I bought 50 labels as well - I've made 6 so far and found them homes.

Hi Annie there was a stand by them I seem too remember at the NEC Quilts show the summer before we had the Cutie meeting there. There was the opportunity to make one. two or more there that day. Think that there has been in the past something about them in Sewing World also a few years ago. Help my brain seems to be in reverse mode

yes you are right about them being there. Just have to check out the NEC hobby craft or the quilt show and we could meet up and give a few away there too

All it takes are a few folk to spread the word and look at what can happen

Great idea! I have a bucket of sheeting and I thought someone may want to make a strip rug. I like this idea even better. Thanks

Thank you for the link and all of the ideas. This will have to be an after Christmas project for me, but I'm going to do some. ;)

Thank you so much for this link and for explaining it all so well - it seems like the perfect thrifty and eco project for making an alternative form of Christmas wrapping!! and also as gifts! I'm about to set up a pod and sort out my fabric stash and get the sewing machine out to make them for everyone I know :) Have a lovely Christmas! x
