Chris, thanks so much for sharing your good fortune in having these beautiful babies in your tree!! What a wonder nature is! And, living in North America, I would never have gotten to see this if you hadn't posted these great pictures. Thanks again, so much!! Hugs, Marji
Oh I so wish this was in MY TREE, you are so very lucky to have a family of Kookaburras in your home ground. Isn't this just amazing Chris...thanks for keeping up with progress of these little sweeties...Hugs from an envious Kerry.
Morning Kerry, I'm sure you have them near you too. Great birds, love Chris
How lovely, this is wonderful to see thank you for showing us.
You are very lucky.
Hugs Pam.
Yes, we are - and the fact that there is a reserve just over our back fence which brings all the natural birdlife around adds to our joy. Love Chris
What fun to watch the baby birds grow. We had baby Morning Doves on our front porch this past summer. I had to remember to open and close the door quietly. One of the parents learned not to fly off when I would leave for work. I was sad when the babies learned to fly and the nest was empty. Becky
Yes, I know how you feel. It's lovely having the birds there for the time they take to lay the eggs and then watch them grow. One good thing is that they come back every year! Love Chris
wow what a wonderful site to see. Is it true they it in a gum tree? Or is that the nursery rhyme only. Hugs &** Loralye
Oh! it is definitely true Loralye. They always sit/perch in gum trees. They are carnivores and give their babies small rodents, lizards, worms, snakes, grubs etc. etc. and when it's feeding time they are constantly flying in and out of the hole. Love Chris
WOW. They are beautiful. You are so lucky to have them. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much for sharing. So the song is right! Kookaburras do sit in old gum trees. We learned the song in elementary school which would be about 55 years ago. Great pictures! Thanks again.
Yes, they do. We have them around our back reserve all the time. Love Chris
Fantastic pictures, seeing them is just made my day. It is so great that you could get so close to take it. One is calm in both pics, one is screaming and the one in the middle does both. funny - you can see into their personalities!
Wonderful pictures! Thank you for sharing them with us.
Hugs, Lidia
Are these the same pair of kookaburras from last year who had babies ?
The parent birds are the same as for the past 4 or 5 years! And then one sibling from each batch helps feed the next year's babies! Love Chris
Ah maybe one day i will get to see a real one now i am sing k-y sits in thee gum tree merry merry king of the bush is he*****hugs
