Toogie, I'm SO glad they finally figured it out and fixed it! Now you'll get stronger every day, as your poor body mends itself. Kind of makes you wonder what the heck they're teaching doctors and the interpreters of tests these days, doesn't it? Were they sleeping thru Gallbladder class? Sheesh! Seems silly. Glad you're on the mend, anyway, my best, Marji
Well it's good news knowing you are out of the woods. Now give yourself time for full recovery. What an awful experience.
Wow! Glad you are on your way back to stitchin! Best wishes to you!
Wow this was quite a ordeal and I am so glad you are on the way to recovery. Take it easy now and let others help you.
Angie
I'm happy to know that you are recovering. Take it easy and let others pick-up heavy items, as it takes quite some time to recover fully. I wish you all the best.
Hugs, Lidia
I am taking care, because I sure don't want a set back.Hubby keeps a watchful eye, but I told him I have to move around or I will stay weak.It seems when I get sick, it really brings me down a lot,so it takes longer to pick back up.Oh well, I'm getting up again, and right now that's all that matters.
I hate it took so long to be diagnosed but I'm so glad you're getting better. Gall bladders can be sneaky things, they mimic so many other illnesses. I had mine out 13 years ago. My prayers are still with you. Hugs! Dana
I'm glad you got to the bottom of your problem and are on the road to recovery. You'll be back stitchin up a storm before you know it.
Thank you so much and yes that will be when I am well. You know if one of us isn't up to emb/sewing we are not well-LOL
Dear Toogie, I'm thrilled to read that you are on the road to recovery. I've been praying for you for a long time now, and I'll keep you on my Cutie prayer list. What a nightmare all of this has been for you and thank God you were persistent enough to get treatment diagnosed correctly. I hope you will continue to feel better day by day. Just rest and let your husband, family and friends continue to pamper you, you deserve it. Love and blessings Chris
Thank you Chris for prayers and support. It is so good to be able to think again without your head paining you.For me to just process what someone said to me, made my head hurt.It was really, really bad. But thank God that is behind me, and Cuties like you for continued prayers...Loved the photos of the enlarged family, congratulations Gram,Mimi,or whatever they call you! The first 2 g-kids called me Gram-mamma and at first the 3rd did too. Then when his little sister came, they shortened it to Gram, so now I am Gram to the 10 of them.
Glad you are better. g- bladders are mean buggers! My dad had a terrible attach after he ate a double helping of wilted lettuce bacon salad This was popular in 1950 and 1960"s. Your cholesterol would go through the roof today with this salad.
I am getting better and it is so good to be home without fever. My MIL use to eat wilted lettuce, too.Never tried it myself, just doesn't sound natural-LOL
My mom used to make that wilted lettuce with bacon, absolutely delicious! I'd love some today, but it just wouldn't be the same, she used lettuce out of her own garden. I figure if cholesterol doesn't get me, something else will, I just plain don't worry about it. None of us are getting out of here alive anyway...
You will start to feel so much better now that you are home, there is no hurry to rush back into embroidery ,Give yourself some time to heal,it gets better day by day and soon you will be as good as new.
Bev
Just as long as you're feeling better, that's what is important, welcome back!!!! Hope you're back in the swing of things asap!!!! :)
glad you are on the road to recovery.. just remember to look after yourself and rest up. give yourself time to get back to normal before tackling anything to strenuous. Hugs Sally
Those of us who have been through your situation know exactly how you feel. It took so long for the diagnosis to find my problem that it zapped any strength I had left. I didn't have any stones just bits of sand and the gall bladder was dead. May it RIP after causing so many problems. Take it slowly and get your strength back before you try to run the marathon or it will take longer. Glad you are back among the living. Best wishes for a return to good health. Donna B (1ladyb)
Thank you Donna. Hate to know ANYONE else had to go through what I have. Days I did feel nothing but fever, so yes, now I feel like I am among the living.-Toogie
Toogie, I was the color of French's mustard when the doctor checked me into the hospital! It was a 9 month recovery for me (and no baby to hold) at age 31. PLAN your energy use these next few days and focus on rest and feeling better soon. You have been very sick.
Sure glad you are on your way to recovery, I've been down that road and it is not fun. Take care and do not get pneumonia again, every time you get it, it takes longer to get back on your feet again. After 2 months this time I'm finally feeling like I can get out of the house and do something. Shirley
God bless you,Shirley. Being sick is hard on a body and the older it gets, the harder to recover. I can't wait to feel like 'doing something'.
Hi Toogie,
Nah your Gallbadder US was a needed test. The US lets you see if there is structural damage to your gallbladder. It will also see stones. The HIDA scan (hepatobiliary scan) is a nuclear medicine scan. It shows if any of your stones has entered the bile duct to the liver. It also shows the lower intestine and tests the actual gallbladder function. The glabladder US is done first because if they don't find any gallbladder problems a HIDA scan might not be needed. The HIDA scan introduces radioactive isotopes into your blood. Look at the US as a guide to determine if a nuclear medicine test is needed.
Yes I work in the medical field. I am a medical analyst. My mother had a stroke 2 years ago I couldn't bear to put her in a nursing facility. So she lives with me. I take care of her and to make a little extra money I have a sewing business on the side.
I am so glad you are feeling much better! Those fevers are serious in an adult. Now the poison being introduced into your from your gallbladder is gone. You'll regain your strenght and be fit as a fiddle. Yippee!!
Hugs, Constance
In my case the US did not show the stones, The HIDA scan showed it was not contracting and showed only one stone. The path report said it was full of stones, maybe they were too small to show up?. Had the 2nd hospital not been at a lost at what else to do, but the Hida scan, they would have sent me home too. This was about the last thing they could think to do.Seems like they could have done this before repeating the scans and test the first hospital did.I know one thing,I am thankful the fevers are gone.
Toogie, I'm so thankful that you got a good diagnosis and are on the mend. Leaving you on my prayer list til you post a project....then I'll know you're better. ;)
Toogie, I more than understand what you have gone through. I was in pain for three years and on my fifth doctor he thought I was lying about the pain just to get pills. He said to find another doctor and would send my records. On the sixth doctor he told them I was lying so they didn't want to treat me. Found a lady doctor and started new without giving her any information from what I knew from the other doctors. She finally sent me for the first x-ray with iodine contrast that showed my gallbladder was petrified and the spleen was enlarged. Was given pain medication to get through the Christmas holiday and then had it removed. Like you they would not let me leave the hospital with the spleen enlarged. Was kinda annoyed that two years later my mother had her's removed laparoscopic and I was stuck with a long incision and she went home the same day where I had to spend eight days in the hospital with a longer recovery. Give yourself some time to heal and you will be back to normal in no time.
I know how you feel.I told my sister and husband, it's a good thing I had fever or they would think I was crazy.SEVERE headaches and fever were my only complaints, up until the 1st hospital did the U-sound.When she pressed on my side/stomach then it hurt.Well, the surgeon gave me a work excuse till Oct 30th,I go to my family dr tomorrow so we will see what he says.At least I have 8 more days to regain some strength.
Glad to hear you are back in the world of the living. Sorry to hear of all your problems. I know what it is like to have no energy. I had pneumonia a few years back. It sure knocked the stuffing out of me. I did not even feel up to talking on the phone. Now you have had that gall bladder sorted you will feel much better. I spoke with my niece yesterday that has just had hers removed and she said she is feeling much better. For the moment do not worry about embroiderying. just take One Day At A Time. Hugs Shirley
Thanks Shirley. I had double pneumonia in 2009 and like you, it took me a while to over that. I know what you mean about the phone, my head hurt so bad, I turned my cell on silent and my husband answered the house phone. He took all the calls. I wanted to emb so much for Christmas, esp for my bus kids, but I will have to get a LOT stronger, still have time, there is not many. Thanks again,Toogie
I am glad you are alive and still kicking!
Hugs!
You and me both ! Although with the fevers, sometimes I just wanted to sleep until it was over.I know I had a lot of company, flowers, and calls, but don't remember much who came or called.Church ladies brought food, until I told them hubby knew how to cook,LOL Everyones been great, especially my sister, who is a retired cancer nurse. She has been so worried, trying to figure out what was wrong. Thanks for the hug, here's one back to you-T
