Best tip ever. Do you use rubber bands, hair ties, hugos amazing tape or some other method to keep your thread spools from unraveling? Then watch this short video and try this tip. Works great!

I use vinyl tape, which comes in various sizes, and not only does it keep the end tidily tucked away, it also keeps the air from it, which dries out your thread. Good tip, though but I prefer my method. Thanks.

What a super idea this is Bev. Most of my spools have the 'loose' bottom but I have spools that I will certainly try this tip on. Thank you.

Bev you mentioned to Noah need for a method keeping your bobbins. I have tried the vinyl hose routine laying on table top and it gets tossed all over did not like. Saw this idea and decided to add a piece of wood with 1/2 inch dowel or could even do a stand with several. I then placed ring binder like for making books I got at office supply on the dowel stand. I keep standard thread in this. I place my white fills in box handy with tube tray and I have two donuts with colored embroidery. If you scout a good method please share as I know you are always on the lookout.

I cut a little cut on the side of the spool just as the old wooden spools used to have, Works for me.

Going to give this a try. Will work for the overlocker [serger] thread too. Thanks Bev

Thanks. As you can see I am slowly catching up reading things posted after I lost my laptop.
I always turned the thread round twice, but that loosened easily, this extra third turn does the trick!

Thanks, but I don't like the knots. When you having problems with your eyesight, it is very difficult to see them. So I'll stick with my painters tape.

Thank you for this. When I purchase a new thread and it has the knot, I use a pin to free the thread. It just takes a second and I don't like to pull my thread and break it.

I hate those knots!!! Would much rather use a ponytail holder to secure my thread. Hugs. Nan

the knot from the factory is always tight and almost impossible to find but when you do it yourself it's looser and comes apart just by rubbing your thumb over it, I really like this way it's so much neater for me, Use whatever makes you happy not everyone is the same

I seen this way few months ago and use this way because I got tired of the bands etc all over and not working. The little that hangs out after the wrap I cut off save to my snips jar.
