Hello everyone

My computer caught a virus and died! So I had to but a new one. Sadly all my designs were lost and I am currently waiting to see if the computer guy pull them off the harddrive for me. In the meantime, I am trying hard to finish a gift and have tried to write a couple of lines to stitch on this item, but my basic program has so many stops when i stitch it out it looks dreadful. I wondered if there is anyone who could create a cople of lines for me. I would be so appreciative.

Many thanks

Grandma

I had to hold down the power button to turn the computer off. Then started it up in safe mode, delete all I could of the virus and then restore my computer to an earlier date. This past Fri I had to restore it 2 times. The last time back to Aug 1 of this year. It seems to be fixed now. I keep my designs backed up on dvds and also have them on another computer which I update every few days,

Yes, mine played up for a while before this happened and then just turned off, like the plug had been pulled, I could not get it to reboot, it would turn on and then shut down again all by itself. I called the tech guy and he finally did something, but said the hard drive was corrupted and he was reluctant to pull data as if it was contaminated, it would infect a new machine and thie same would happen. He took the hardrive and said he would try to collect and enter it onto an old machine to see what was going on...As I know nothing about computers I have to be guided by the professionals, but this guy has worked for me in the past and I have always found his work to be excellent and at a really fair price.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble. I do hope there was more wrong with your computer than a virus. There is not a virus I have heard of (in the 12+ years working in the field of computers) that can do enough damage to require a replacement -- except for the hard-drive. Only in very rare cases do we need to reload the operating system. Most of the time the virus can be completely cleaned and the computer does not lose any data. It is return to the user just like it was before the virus attacked.

I do hope one of our digitizers can help you.

In the meantime I am hoping someone can help and yes, how sily of me not to have backed up the designs, I guess we all learn by our mistakes I certainly have. I am mortified. I have so many lovely designs. It is my own silly fault. Thank you for reponding

All of your designs should be able to be saved. We jumper the drives to our machines and scan/clean the virus from there. It is very effective. I hope he tries this -- as it is a viable and inexpensive solution. Do not let the tech throw out your old computer or hard-drive. Keep it, especially if he was unable to recover all of your data. Many professionals (not just my company) recover and restore data every day. I do hope he gets it all for you. Good luck!

Thank you, I will call him tomorrow and ask him what he intends to do, I do hope he can save them. Maybe one problem has now been solved, lets hope someone can help me out with the two sentence design as I do not have that programme at the moment and it was pretty basic as well, it was fine for creating one or two larger names/words, but not for creating a sentence. When I tried this it was full of jumps stitches and as I only have a 4 x 4 hoop, all squoshed up and looked dreadful, so I stuck to one or two words only. Nevertheless i have emailed the company and explained the problem so i am hopeing they will replace the programme. Thank you for your uselful advice,
