At the request of Toogie...an oval coaster...this one has the grid with satin balls not leaves, and is blank...as some have requested blanks to put their own designs in...hope you Enjoy! Oval Coaster 5x7
Fabric #1 is the main center fabric
Fabric #2 is the outer border and backing fabric
Batting - 6" x 8"
Fabric #1 - 6" x 8"
Fabric #2 - 6" x 8" (Make a small snip right in the center of one square to help you snip center away for reverse applique)
Fabric #2 - 6" x 8" - Cut in half horizontally, place right sides together and stitch 1/4" seam allowance leaving a 2-1/2" un-sewn opening in the middle, press seam open.
Hoop with tear away stabilizer - Color #1 - Placement
Place batting down then Fabric #1 (right side up) and center in hoop
Color #2 - Tack Down
Color #3 - Grid
Place Fabric #2 (right side up with small slit in center) and center in hoop
Color #4 - Tack down for appliqué cut (single run then zig-zag run)
Carefully cut away the center of Fabric #2 (small slit give you a start) very close to the zig-zag tack down...as close as you can get without snipping the threads...
Color #5 - Satin ball stitching
Put Your Own Design Here
Place Fabric #2 (Wrong Side Up) with seam centered horizontally in the hoop
Color #6 - Tack Down
Remove from Hoop, trim with about 1/4" seam allowance. Turn right side out, press well, and hand stitch opening on the back of the coaster...I suggest a topstitching around the coaster on your sewing machine to finish...
