Update on my little Tidgy Girl.

Twelve months ago, Tidge was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and kidney disease and given 6 months to live, as both diseases can kill without warning.
Hyperthyroidism actually masks and can keep the kidney disease arrested, so we put her on medication to control it and it is a real balancing act, too little medication and the thyroid goes crazy and all her life support functions go into super speed mode. Too much medication and the kidneys start to fail.
Well, I don't want to be cocky, as every day we have her is a blessing, but here she is getting a new lease on life for her 18th birthday, yesterday, 24th November.
She has always been a feisty cat and she is obviously not giving up easily.
So check out the brilliance in her eyes, her total absorption in what she is watching........
Something she has never seen before......
If I stand up can I see better?
AHAH! So that's what has caught her eye!
I wonder, maybe I can reach this other lot....
But, wait a minute, are there better ones back there????
Happy 18th Birthday my dear sweet, feisty Tidgy Girl.
While ever you fight to live another day, I will be here to love and care for you and appreciate every second we share together.
Thank you Cuties for your ongoing little prayers for Tidgy and I swear, the photo's were taken in the sequence shown and Tidgy spent almost the whole day laying on a towel in front of the aquariums, gazing up in wonder or just sleeping, dreaming of the feast before her eyes. LOL!!!!
Hugs and love to you all, Meg

These are so cute. I can just see her doing this. Glad to see you are feeling much better as you are able to take the pictures and tell us the story. I would say your eyes are staying open longer now. Hope Ray is doing as good as your are. Will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Good to see you back.

She is gorgeous and still going strong! I have 5 cats including Josie who was 18 in September. She lost an eye a few years ago and then got skin cancer on her ears and had to have them removed. So now she looks like a guinea pig bless her lol Most days she just sleeps and she's quite wobbly on her feet sometimes, but she still has life in her when the 20 month old tabby tries to scare her!! Happy Birthday Tidge XX

Thanks Nadyne, I often have tears if I think too much about the inevitable so I try to push it to the back of my mind and be grateful for every single day. I am like that with my family too since the close call with cancer, it is difficult not squeezing the daylights out of them when ever I see them. Hugs and roses, Meg

I couldn't resist grabbing the camera, she was so adorable and so gentle and it was the first day she had even noticed the fish, but then she doesn't leave the bedroom very often these days. Are you still coming on Friday? I'm feeling much better, even did some housework today. :-) See you Friday. Hugs n love, Meg

What a doll! My sisters cat is just as old and she has thyroid disease too. She has to be given meds and blood work. She went from 8 pounds to 5 pounds. She eats 6 times a day too. She is not giving up yet either. Suzanne

It is so difficult watching our precious fur babies going downhill, Tidgy has gone from 10 lb down to just under 7, but her coat is still good and she still cleans herself and always uses her litter tray, though I have had to put it in my ensuite to make it easier for her.
Sometimes she wakes up crying as if she is lost and it upsets me so to hear her, but a cuddle and reassurance from mum and she settles back down. I wish your sister well in her battle. Hugs and blessings, Meg

She looks pretty good in the photo's doesn't she?
Hard to imagine she is now under 7lb and I'm afraid you can see her spine far too clearly. She eats three times the amount of her two brothers but the over active Thyroid burns up everything she eats, so her dinner bowl is refilled every time she empties it. She is a very long cat and had always been lithe and active. I think that is why she is such fighter. Thanks for your wishes.

Thanks Karen. yes she sure got excited when she saw the fish in the aquariums. Even now she is laying on the towel in front of the largest one, normally she rarely leaves our bed these days so it is wonderful to see the spark return to her eyes. hugs and roses, Meg

Meganne thank you for the funny pics. Yes she is a real fighter like her mommy ;o)
Happy Birthday to Tidgy ! Wish you a long time with your precious girl. Since I put my last cat to sleep I developed an allergy against cats and dogs :o(

Thanks Bettina. I can understand your newly acquired allergy. They sure do break your heart, even when you are expecting it, it comes as a shock how much it hurts when we lose them. HUgs and love, Meg

How precious! I love my big boy as much, and he's only 11yrs. He was a rescue, and had suffered so much. His prev. owner had him declawed and it was a botched job--had to be done again (it is still botched), but his poor paws had swollen hugely before seeing another vet. Such a cruel thing to do to an animal. I hope Tidgy will be with you for many more yrs. I know she brings joy into your life.

Oh how I despise cruelty to animals. I also have a rescue Big Boy Russian Blue whose owners abandoned when they moved house and left him behind. He is always the first one on my lap, within seconds of me sitting down, he weighs 20 lbs and is probably 7 -8 years old. Then there is my 12 year old Himalayan boy who is the light of my life, and my 12 year old Cocker Spaniel, who would also be on my lap if she was given half a chance. LOL!!!
How does anyone live without furry friends?
Thank you for your wishes. hugs and roses, Meg
