UPDATE here :)
She's well, just look
My brother's dog was hit by a car, and lost her leg. She has gone on to be a very active creature, has given birth several times to litters of healthy puppies and is as wild and crazy as any other dog. She doesn't even seem to notice that her leg is missing.
I hope that your kitty is doing well!!!
how does it go with Minouche? hope she is recovering. Big hugs for the both of you !
SO SORRY ABOUT YOUR KITTIE..SHE LOOKS JUST LIKE LENOX...SHE IS VERY CUTE....LUCY
I am so sorry to hear about your sweet kitty. It breaks my heart when animals are in pain. But I know that your love and attention will help her recover quickly, and once she is in your arms again she will be happy. Sending you both a huge hug.
My heart and prayers go out to you and Minouche; I am so sorry for the waiting but feel that she will recover well and be free of pain after she heals. Give her scratches behind her ears, from me.
Hugs and love,
Jacqueline
I just re-call the vet : I have to wait until 6pm to get Minouche because he must make another big operation.... It's sooooooooooo long....
I imagine my poor Minouche like that
Don't let your imagination get you down so much. She will be ok (for such a big operation) and need you in a good condition to help her recover :o)
Hi Sissi
She is beautiful. She looks like my Tabby Jazzy. She will be yp and running around in no time
Hugs
Peggy
Update sept 26 :
A lot of question yesterday evening : she will wake up alone, in an unknown place, having pain ...
A lot of nightmares this night : she tried to scrape her ear with a small piece of leg ...
I look at the clock and I wait to be 9 am to phone the vet.... :(
I just call the vet. The operation went well but he had to cut the leg very high at the hip ...he keeps Minouche up tonight because she is suffering...
I can only cry....
Sissi that is not good to read but she seems to be a fighter and will come back home to you. I'm sure he gives her something against the pain.
Maybe there is a friend nearby to visit you and have a cup of coffee with you to detract you a little bit?
My hearts with you...
Greetings, Bettina
Well, I called the vet (with my heart beating at 2000 pulses / minute): he just finished the surgery, she is still sleeping ... Following tomorrow morning ...
My thoughts are with you. I know it is terrible when the only thing you can do is wait...
I know you will not get a lot of sleep. Just wishing your cat all the best..
Update sept 25 :
My little Minouche is to the vet since this morning 9 am. He had to make the amputation this afternoon ... but I have to wait until 6 pm before calling him... I do not know if she comes home tonight or tomorrow... The wait is long........
I know it is hard for you right now..
She will probably stay with the vet tonight and come home either tomorrow or the next day.
As I mentioned before in another post...my dog got along GREAT when we had to have his leg amputated...three legs never slowed him down. After two weeks she'll be her old self and hopping (then running) on her three legs.
Hugs
Update sept 24 :
Minouche will be amputed tomorrow in the morning....
I know it's the better thing for her but I'm soooooooooo sad :o(
Its actually better to amputate then try to save the leg. I too was surprise to hear this, the animal will develope arthritis in the broken leg which is extremly painful. I hope this will make you feel like you are making the right decision .I know Minouche will come out of this 3 Paws on the floor
wishing all the best to her ! When you will see how well she will be doing later one you know you have selected the best option ! hugs to your cat..
She looks as my first cat Isabella. lovely kitty hope she will do good after the operation. I've seen dog's and cats with one leg and they went oke and happy. Good luck
She is so precious! I will be praying for you both, and know God will be looking over the doctor's work and watching over you ! Prayers, hugs and blessings!!
Your kitty has the same color markings as my Tigger, What is her name? Happy outcome to a terrible situation. Hugs...
our pets are family & very precious to us. I am glad to hear she is on the mend! Hugs Loralye
sept 19, Update :
Back from the vet : Minouche has a huge bandage to keep her leg as much as possible until the amputation
Glad to hear the vet was better and your cat will be feeling better soon. They function well on just three legs. She is beautiful. Glad they are helping you too. Suzanne
I am so glad you got a second opinion for your cat. She is beautiful and will be much happier when she is settled with her 3 legs.
Yes she will. I was going to mention the possibility of amputation, since I just recently helped a friend and her kitty. It does not take long to recuperate. We had a 3 legged kitty 35 years ago, so know they have been doing this for a long time. The less stress the better when she comes home.
I am so pleased for you and your cat. She will be fine with three legs. Hugs Sarah
This is excellent news for you and your kitty. Have seen cats with three legs and they are amazing at how well they get around. So glad you were able to find a vet that will work with you. She has a sweet face.
That's kindof good news -at least that she will get to live and she will adapt very well, I'm sure. It is wonderful that she has such a caring owner -pity about those rotten kids who exist in the same world. Looking forward to hearing how well she is doing later on.
She is a really nice looking cat and I am sure she will do fine on 3 legs, they just accept it and go on with life, she's got 8 more lives to go!
Take care of yourself as I know these things are harder on us than them it seems.
She's a beautiful little girl - a kitten on the keys! I'm so glad she will be able to still live and give lots of love and purrs. God bless you and her! Love and purrs, Jan
She is gorgeous. I am glad she has a chance of living a normal life.
Sissi, good you have checked with an other vet. Yes an animal can live on 3 legs and she will always be gratefull you gave her that chance.
Keep us updated how the surgery and recovery goes
I am so happy that you have found some relief and real help for her. She will be up and about in no time with your love and care. She's a lucky kitty to have to take care of her and not to give up on her. ;)
Sissi, I am so very glad you found another vet!! Your poor little one will surely get better, and they do adapt quickly, because our little fur friends don't feel sorry for themselves, they just deal with what they have. What is her name? She looks just like my Polly, and my little Minou who passed away. Such a sweet little tiger cat. I think you should call the police, and make that boy from the village who hit her pay for the vet bills. I am so sorry there are such wicked people in the world. She has my prayers for her recovery, and I'm so glad you are the kind of person who loves her, and will give her the chance to live a good life. Maybe she should stay in the house from now on, to keep her out of harm's way. Big hugs for you and your kitty, Marji
I am so glad to hear you found a new Vet that will work with you. She looks so much like my little one who is sitting with me as I type. Prayers are with you & yor little kitty. Please keep us up dated. Arlene
thank you for the update my friend. Good news she will be alive, and she will have less pain when the leg will be amputed. of course it will be difficult for you and for her. she will have trouble in the beginning and perhaps does not understand what happend. but I'm sure ; before you know she will get used to walk on three legs, and do the things she did before, Hope she learned from this and stays in the safety of your garden. please give her an extra hug and love from me. And hugs/love for you too. It must be hard to see her like this. but she will feel you do all you can for her.
Animals adapt much easier than humans to such things! I am sure she will have a few bad days but not like a human would. I am glad you went to another Vet. You now feel better, knowing just what is going on and what can be done for her. Hang in there because you are going to feel really terrible when you bring her home, just because you love her and she can not tell you what she is feeling. Just love her and give her the space that she needs to adapt to what is going on. It will not be long before you and the cat will act like nothing has ever happened. Our furbabies should can steal our hearts and in a hurry! Hugs, Linda.
awe so sorry for that, had problems with my dog, if not for care credit he wouldn't be here and the awesome vet I found. I have found Care Credit to be my dogs life saver.
