that is one busy day! But when you look at the results I'm sure you gain much satisfaction!
Toogie, these are beautiful! You make my qts of green beans & blueberry jam look pitiful! I also made some good yellow squash relish that is just too, too easy to make! PM me if you want the recipe.

WOW! Congratulations, you are a survivor! Fantastic job. I had to call my hubby to show him your photos. Many, many years ago we used similar jars (Vacola) to preserve tomato puree but it was such a job that we have done it a few times only.
Hugs, Lidia
Oh boy haven't you been busy. The preserves look great. I love figs. We had a Brown Turkey fig tree they were beautiful but it seems to have died from old age. You make me want to plant another one. Hugs Joyce
Wow that is a lot of work I just put up 12 quarts of salsa yesterday and have tomatoes ready to put up 12 more. My hubby wants jalapeno jelly so that might be next. I also have a bushel of peaches I don't know what I am going to do with them probably what I don't eat will freeze I love peaches coming from Ga USA I guess that would only be natural. Would love to find figs to put up maybe my neighbor would have some. Have fun I love it and my family loves having the wonderful fruits and vegetables to eat.
Toogie, you certainly have been busy. Next week I will be making marmalade as there are masses of citrus fruits at the moment. The best part of jam making is seeing it all in the bottles at the end. Well done to you. Sarah.
Toogie I am going to the UK in August and I think I must come and visit you!!! You are a real kitchen goddess
Wonderful! I still can everything I get my hands on. It makes lovely gifts and sure saves on the grocery bills. We live in southern British Columbia and I'm working on strawberries right now. The raspberries are just about ready as are the fruit trees. Our garden is bountiful and I always look at my canning room when all is done and consider it another one of my "artistic" ventures. We don't grow figs here...bet they are yummy!! Blessings.
Hi Cooperal,The figs are very 'Yummy' as are the strawberries you have now.I put up some blueberries but I didn't have but 2 gallons of those.Do you have a good blueberry pie recipe? I ate a very good one at a church gathering, one time, that I wish I had the recipe for.-T
Toogie you make me hungry. I've been doing corn today. Son n law had a pick up truck full when he came by this morning. I like my figs with lemon so slices of lemons are in my fig preserves. I know what it is like to can and freeze during the summer that was always how our summers went as a yolung girl in Ga. No freezers in that day, no air-conditioning either and boy was it ever hot in Ga. congratulations on all your hard and tasty work/Lillian
Hi Lillian, I have never tried it with lemon, but i bet it is good. Are you cutting the corn off the cob or both ways? When my youngest daughter was small, we went to the canning kitchen at school and put up our corn there, so she called it 'school corn'.haha She knew the difference too, when she ate it.
Cutting it off Toogie , the messy way. I can remember when I was young and newly married putting my bathing suit on and working in the back yard shucking and cutting off and scraping the cob bushels at a time, then hosing all the corn stuck on me off with the water hose. It was hot back then also 100 degrees are better in Ga. and no air-conditioning
That's funny! Where you in Ala when you were cutting off corn in your bathing suit! You're welcome a hosing off right now, I bet! Daughter in Huntsville said it's awfully hot!!
Oh WOW... what can I say.
I'm very impressed & you must be well satisfied with what you've accomplished.
It's a lot of hard work - but very rewarding.
Now you need a rest & relaxation... maybe retire to the sewing room for a while :)
You must be so proud of yourself! I would be! Fantastic effort fantastic result! Live Laugh Pick and Cook!
Fanstasitc job and so much love that you put into each jar for your grands.
Well, with 9 grands close by, you need food. I taught my eldest to make biscuits a few weeks ago. He said he has already used 5lbs of flour and a jar of strawberry figs!
Toogie, your canned goods look wonderful!!Yummy!!
As soon as the fresh fruit and vegetable season is over then it will again be time for stitiching. I know we must do what we can when our produce is available. Hugs, Mary
That is so true, may not be the most convenient time, but it has to be done then. And yes, it is so.o.o Yummy, haha
Toogie, I KNOW, firsthand, how tired you are!! I did all this gathering and canning, freezing, etc., when my children were growing up. But, now, I just get veggies and fruit from our local farmers market, and enjoy them fresh during the summer months. I love fried okra and creamed corn with corn fritters! Nothing tastes so good!! I am definitely a farmgirl, and can hardly wait each summer for the tomatoes to ripen! You are definitely excused from sewing!! You need LOTS of REST!!
Hugs,
Angel
Angel, you sound like us.My husband calls store bought tomatoes, funeral home tomatoes, they taste dead, no flavor.I can make a meal off of pinto beans, cornbread and fried/smothered down okra.I am not a meat eater, I love vegetables.I am putting up snap beans or green beans, as I type.
This looks fantastic. I love making jam from own produce. It is a shame we hardly ever eat jam, but they sold well on my charity sale!
Wonderful Toogie, I used to make jam some years ago.
the younger generation do not seem to want to make things anymore. Such ashame.Wish I could come and have a little taste lol
I wish you could come and taste too, might even send you home with some.My youngest and I have made preserves together, before, but not my oldest girl. Not interested.
Looks absolutely mouth watering. I planted two fig trees 3 years ago and did not get one this year thanks to hailstorms and birdsl This just looks divine though. Congratulations on your hard work.
We have 3 planted and planted 2 of them about that long. They are slow growing, though. Our friends went on vacation and wanted us to pick while they are gone.
So much healthier for your family. I helped a family can and at one point the lady asked me if I had canning jars. I did and she told me to go get them. I was very appreciated that they shared their extras with me. Every thing tastes so much better with out the preservatives. Can feel your exhaustion and all the heat that canning makes.
Thank God for AC. That is what I canned, extras from friends/family that have gardens.People are so generous, and like me they hate to see it ruin.
Oh my goodness you are a hard worker. I remember how hard it was to can. Way to go girl.
Hugs Joann
WOW!!! How wonderful. I would love to learn to can some day. We haven't figured out how to get the garden going yet. LOL
I don't even have a garden. Friends/family give us what is left after they put up all they want, isn't that generous? Mind you, we may have to pick it, but we don't mind, they have done the hardest part.
Every thing looks great. A lot of work but really worth it. I can no longer do any canning and I really miss it.
I know how you feel. I was so exhausted, last night. We really don't need to put up that much,at one time.We will have to pick again, in a few days, we just hate to see them ruin. My husband is giving these next ones away.
