NO, never I don't let anyone touch my machines or scissors.LOL
WOW, I have never seen sew many `NÃ’`s`! I have never asked to borrow one I have had people ask to borrow mine. However before I went on vac while mine (still) was at the shop my girlfriend brought hers over to my house sew that I could make a thank you gift for the people we were staying with! I guess I was really lucky as I never even asked she offered & just did! I`m afraid that in my case I would let anyone of my sewing sisters use mine. But I will point out that everyone of them has an Embroidery machine & some have more than one!Sew I would have no fear of it being damaged in any way!But I do appreciate the honesty of everyone here today Thank you all & ************4 all! Hugs Loralye
I would not loan my embroidery machine (350E) that is my baby. I use 2 older Pfaff's for sewing with, I would loan 1 of them to a quilting friend if needed. I carry another machine (a newer model) in my van 24/7 that I take to classes, groups etc and I would not loan that one out. If I had one of the newer fancier machines I definetly would not. There is a saying "Please do not ask for credit as a refusal may often offend" same motto would apply to my machine.
Sorry, didn't know that I can also give flowers if I read what someone else answers! I thought it was only the person who did the post who did so. So now I am going to also give out flowers! Way to go.
YOUR NEW SEW IT'S OK YOUR STILL LEARNING NOT SURE WHY THE OTHER'S DON'T SHARE? i KEEP TRYING TO REMIND THEM HERE'S HOPING IT WORKS
As someone already pointed out, I would let them use it at my home, under my watchful eye. I don't think any of my friends would even ask to take them from my home as they are intimidated when they see my sewing room! Nan W
No way, my machine is for my use only. Couldn't bear to part with it. :)
never would i ask to borrow any bodys machine and i would never lend mine for any reason, if they want to know what it dose go to a machine shop for a demo.
One word, "NO" My machines stay in my sewing room and that's that. :) If someone wanted to do research, they would be welcome to do so in my home :)
No no one touches my machines in my craft room only Me.:}:}
Absolutely no way does anyone borrow my machines. They are as personal to me as my toothbrush!
Absolutely no way. My sewing machines are as personal to me as my comb and my toothbrush and I NEVER loan those items.
No, I even hate when it has to go for cleaning or repairs. If someone need to sew they can do it at my house or do the same for research. No one is going to treat my machine like I will. I could sit with them and show them all that it can do much better than them experimenting with my expensive piece of equipment. Hugs & Stitches, Liz
A resounding NO. I don't actually know anyone who would know how to use them, but my machines would never leave my house. Good luck to anyone who was trying to move my embroidery machines they are very heavy. I only have one sewing machine and to me being without that would be like living in a house without an oven.
I'm just wondering pldc why you ask this question. Has someone asked to borrow yours or is it just the daily question.
Bev
Here is another No. Lent an old machine once, to a fellow student [sewing class] and still have not got it back 38years later!!!
No, no way, nope, etc! He/she can use it under my supervision in my house! It's a lot more fun sharing:)
Sorry, don't wish to sound mean... but abosolutly NOT. I learnt my lesson early., I did lend my very first machine to a friend who promptly broke it and just returned it saying, Oh sorry, but it broke !!!!
Sore point! My husband has a tendency to "borrow" my scissors. He did ruin my material scissors by cutting iron wire with them. I made him buy me a new (very expensive ) pair. He now keeps well away from scissors in my sewing room.
Definitely NOT!!! If they want to try it out, they can do so at my home under my supervision, or go to the shop and have a demo. I would also NEVER ask to borrow a machine from anyone.
NO! I do not even want anyone to use my machines in my craft room must less take them out of the house! I am retired and can no longer work so I do not feel like I could afford to fix or replace a machine! I panicked when my son ,45, and is suppose to know how to use them, messed up one of my machined a couple of Xmas' ago. He was trying to adjust the bobbin tension because I have crippling arthritis and it is near impossible for me to use a tiny screwdriver in tha tiny spot! Fortunately he finally found someone close by to fix it for me. It still cost $65.00 and all he did was to adjust the tension! I called the closest BabyLock dealer and they wanted over a hundred to just look at it. I can not remember if they said $125.00 or $145.00!! I am in the Atlanta area now but my 2 BabyLocks were purchased in Augusta, Ga. He would have most likely fixed for near nothing but My car was not running right at that time and I had no way to go there and back. I borrowed my son's junk truck to carry it to the sewing and Vac guy that did fix it. That was about 10 miles from my house.
Maybe I should add that I would never dare to ask anyone to let me borrow their machine either!
Why the 0s? Lets get all flower gardens blooming! We should give flowers not just receive them.
NO! Just thinking about it makes me cringe! I would never lend my Viking Designer SE or my 25 year old Bernina. I do sew with my GDs, they are 3 & 5 but would never ever consider letting either machine leave my home! Hope this does not sound too selfish. My machines were gifts from DH and are very special to me.
not my good machines, the older ones i would lend to a good friend or family member♥
The machines never leave the sewing room...unless they are due for a servicing. No one touches the machines. I let my friend so a bit of sewing on the Elna Pro- Quilter's Dream...bad mistake. She broke the needle while sewing and then continued on. The needle jammed into the gear below and ripped it to shreds. It took a month for them to get the part because it was the first time they had ever seen this much damage from a needle. Even the main company had to get involved in the "how to" of the repair. My repair guy is a gem and we both learned and worked through it. I was so mad at her I could spit nails.
AND if that was not enough...my almost best scissors now have a nick in the blade because she cut through a pin.
AAARRRGGGHHHHHH.
The sewing room is off limits.
:-)
no, no & no. not my babies. They could come over and play but no way would I let them borrow it. xx
Perhaps if it is a very good friend, with a good reason, but then still will think about it. Hugs Marie
one simple answer : "NO". It is not that I do not want to share things; but what it they mix it up and it needs to go to the repair shop ? Some people just don't tread items like I do; that is carefully...
ABSOLUTELY 'DO NOT TOUCH!" Not even if I'm in the same room. That goes for my grown dtrs as well. I hate it when I have to leave it over night to get a cleaning. Never ever :)
No! It would not leave my home. I bought my daughter an old sewing machine on her 17th birthday, so she had her own, (that was after she had changed the settings on my machine and I wondered why it was making such a noise). Today she makes the most wonderful quilts. I would give someone a few lessons at my home under supervision of course! Thinking of giving my 7year old granddaughter some lessons soon.
YOU CAN LOOK BUT DO NOT TOUCH,ANYWAY ITS TO HEAVY TO MOVE.BUT I LET MY 8YRS GRANDDAUGHTER HAVE A LITTLE GO WHILE I WATCH JUST HOPE SHE GETS THE BUG
Absolutely no, I might give it to my sister after I get a new one which will be a long time from now because of the expense. hugs dean
No. They just cost way too much to loan out. Someone without a car & needs to go to work; I'll let you borrow mine. My machine is not a necessity of life, so no. However, I do let friends come over & try mine out to see how it sews. Research can be done on the Internet as well as going to different dealers & sewing on their machines. My machines (2) are emb. machines..Viking SE and Diamond.
Never again!
And that was an old sewing one, they do not take care like I do and it was only dirty and dusty on it's return.
But I soon polished it up again,It is the best one for free motion,so I have discovered.
Now someone will have to wrestle it from my dead hands..LOL..
Definately NOT my embrodiery machine. They are more than welcome to come and use it at my house where I can catch any issues before they become a real problem. I have a few sewing machines but they are all older and I would lend out most of them, except the one I use daily.
defnitely not my emb. mach. And not one I use everyday either. I have on loan one that I don't care for. But it is lent to a daughter and g daughter. Never would I lend it to anyone else. Since I am a seamstress, They would have to pay me to do it for them.
Well, I wouldn't loan my embroidery machines, but I have an extra regular machine I would loan out. I have a hard time saying "no" to someone, but I feel certain I would in this case. Hugs, Judy
My little sewing machine I would but not the embroidery machine I would let her use it here if she wanter to .

No! I had a hard time giving in and starting my GD learning to sew on my baby and was so glad I finally found her a machine of her own! When I bought this machine a couple years ago, my son asked what I was going to do with my old one! I, of course, said keep it (I love the machine). Then he said that he had wondered if his wife could have it to do repairs, etc. I said I'd think about it. I din't want to part with it, but I actually had no room for it and knew she is one who would take absolutely good care of it (as much as me). So I finally let her have it with the stipulation that if she ever changed her mind, that it was to come back to me (It's a Janome Memory 7, one of the first computerized sewing machines and I'd had it for 30 yrs. with not having to have any repairs done to it!). I was very protective over the other machine and this new one, my hubby won't come near it! Yay!
I don't trust me with it, I surely won't let anyone else use it. Also, in a couple of days, you won't even begin to get the drift of it. No!
I don't trust myself either. And, your right it takes a bit of time to get the hang of it.
No, I would not allow anyone to take my machine home with them. #1 I use them too much. #2 If someone doesn't know much about a machine they can really mess it up, especially the emb. machine.
I have allowed someone to come to my home and use my machines but I am right there in case I'm needed.
MJDG
I would not let even my own sister to "borrow" my machine. I would give her advice what to look for in buying her own but we pay too much for these embroidery machines to lend out. Besides what would I do when it was gone?
Bev
Years ago I allowed a co-worker to use my old Singer Touch n Sew to make some curtains for her new apartment. It had to go for repairs when I got it back. After it was repaired she asked if she could get it again. You all can imagine what my response to that question was.
Never again. No one will ever use any of my embroidery machines. I am not sure I would even let anyone sew on one with me standing right there. Too many things can go wrong if you don't take time to learn everything the correct way. Like another 'Cutie' said, they are far too valuable.
Loralye, I think you have a big group 'no' on today's question. I can imagine that you pretty much knew what answers you would receive. :)
Marcelle
no way would I let someone borrow my machines. I let my daughter use them when she comes to visit and told her that when the times comes I no longer sew she can have her choice of which embroidery machine she wants.
no... you don't loan out something like these.. they are toooooo expensive.. they would have to go to a shop that sold machines..
No way! If someone wants to see what machine they want. Go to the shops that sell them. Mine will not leave home except for check-up's and when it is sick. Then I am sad while it is there getting fixed.
Depends on the machine, and the person,,my embroidery machines, no, but one of my sergers, or reg. machines...probably, unless it was someone I didn't know well.
NO,NO,and NO! I would be happy to show off my machines but they don't leave my sewing room. Hugs..Carol
PS. Why are there 6 0's below me? Should only be 1. Come on cuties, give out those flowers. Hugs.. Carol
I agree. I spend a lot of time giving out flowers especially on long list like this. It takes time but is worth it. Hugs & Stitches, Liz
Me too. I go from the bottom up and give flowers before I post an answer.
That`s what I have been trying to say for a couple of weeks now! I am glad that someone else cares too!Thank you for speaking up! ****** are for eveyone & they don`t cost us a dime! & look how happy they makes us ALL!
Like others, they could use it at my house with me there but not take it away to use it.
No way! I would happily help them to use my machine but nobody is allowed to use it when I am not ther. (It is just too expensive and I know I could not afford to replace it if anything happened to it)
NO WAY! I'd gladly let them use my machine if I am sitting right there supervising--but never would I let it leave my sewing rm. I would suggest they get demos from their dealer for the machines they're interested in.
No one would want to buy my old machine as it is not on the market any more but answer would still be 'NO'!!!!
My Husqvarna Iris, maybe, my Brother 190D, possibly, but the others - no way.
I have let a friend I trust borrow my backup machine because she has no machine at the moment. Never ever my main machine though. It leaves the house only to go to see the tech for maintenance/repairs. I will let some use my main machine only with me watching over them.
NO!! I have learned never let any one use my machines, and not to let them borrow pictures to have copies made!
Oh no, no, no, definately NO, never, cannot even think of doin it, hugs S*
