My Mother (Miss Loretta) owned a Designer I and now I have it - it is a good machine. I own two Babylock Ellegante2's as well. I think I would stay with the same brand - so that you can use all your designs and hoops on the new machine.

Hi, I have two Brothers, the first one is innoiv 900
I have had this one just a year now. it has been no trouble, it will use cheaper threads if i am doing things not too important, it only has a 4x4 hoop so I got a 750e brother about two months ago this has a 7x5 hoop. but I have to put designs in from a mem stick on the 750e.it is a bit more fussy about the thread I use.
Both Brothers have top loading bobbins that i find annoying when it runs out in middle of a design. and most parts are plastic, Think about all your designs Brother uses pes. On my old Pe designe light. I can see Pes .and Hus.I exspect you have Hus. Hope this helps. Pam.

I had a Designer 1 without it ever having a problem, then the touch screen needed to be replaced - not bad after almost 12 years. When I came to collect it there was a Ruby demonstration and I bought it then and there and took 2 machines home. I gave the D1 to my daughter who loves it.

Did you buy extra hoops and accessories for the Designer? In that case I'd rather not switch brands.

I have Brothers. My first was a 780D - embroidery only (5x7 hoop max). Then I got the 6000D (Quattro) - which is a real dream (cuts jump stitches, auto threads, snowman placement, 8x12 hoop, etc). The baby locks and brothers are twins - so you can shop both dealers and see which you like best, who will give you the best deal and service after the sale, etc. Definitely test drive whatever you think you will get. Good Luck!

I have the 2500D and wish I would have gotten the 3500D. That one threads itself and also cuts your top junp stitches. what a time saver. Have 2 Brother machines and really enjoy them both. Seems the number of the machines match the prices more or less if that helps too. Go to your dealer and try them.

We purchased a Husqvarna repair/service manual so that in the unlikely event of the machine needing a repair my husband would be able to tackle it. Link below -

Try Babylock! I had the elligante gold and upgraded to the elissimo gold. I also have the enterprise 10 needle. LOVE them all. Check them out first before you buy anything! Suzanne

Hi Anita, I have the Designer 1 and love it. only wish for a larger hoop sometime, so would look for that if I changed. However as you are in spain know there is a Husqvarne dealer in Madrid. You might be able to post to them and repair and get it back by courier too. I have done that in the UK, so why not here if need be.I wish you luck whatever you decide. Hugs from the Costa de Sol. I have the designer 1 and love love love it - never a problem, why not just get it fixed? Unless of course you want santa to bring you a new machine anyway....

I have the brother Quattro and just love it! My hubby purchased the upgrades for me for my birthday, anniversary, and Christmas! ...now it is equivalent to the newest Quattro. The machine is promoted by the company as upgradable for 100 years! I also have a 30+ year old Viking that still works like a dream. I went with Brother because I was able to get so much more for my money. The camera option is a charmer. I simply love my Brother!

I have a Husqvarna-Viking Topaz 30 I have been embroidering for over two years. The initial problems I had were due to my inexperience, now I don't have any problems! The Brother machines seem fantastic but no machine is perfect, the more sensors and frills they have, the more likely they are to give you problems. This is what my sewing machine dealer said. Hugs, Lidia

The largest hoop I have, with my Topaz 30, is 200mm x 360mm, roughly 8" x 14".

I have two brothers, a 780D and an Innovis 4000D..the 780d does just embroidery and the innovis does sewing and embroidery, before these two I had a PC8500...absolutely love Brother machines... easy to use and they hardly ever break down... In fact my two I have had for over two years, and no problems with them

I have 3 Brothers (900, 750d & 3100d) love them all, they are so easy to use. But I have looked at the Husqvarna Topaz which seems to be a lot of machine for a very reasonable price. Go to a dealer and play. xx

My friend has a Brothers has a Brothers 4000D which is almost identical to my BABY Lock that is a Alageo Plus I could not believe how much they are alike. About the only difference is the color of the machine. And the price the Brothers is probably a lower price. Both machines have 4x4 5x7 and 7x10 frames and capabilities.
These machines are awesome. Good luck but please shop around and talk with the dealer. If you don't get a good dealer your in trouble. Sara

I have 2 Brothers a Galaxie 3000 and a PR 650. They are brilliant and I would happily say buy Brother but make sure there is a dealer near who can service the machine when it needs it and to get advice from

I have a Bernina Artista 640. It has a full sewing machine plus a fantastic embroidery machine in itself. It is a lovely machine and I enjoy using it. Hope you find what you are wanting in machines, so happy hunting!!!***

I invested in a Baby Loc Elisimo Gold last year. I love it. It has everything for sewing plus an amazing embroidery machine.

Brother seems to be quite popular, I looked at them when I changed mine last fall but I purchased husqvarna Ruby instead. All my designs (or most) are in VP3 and hus so I figured it would be easier and I just love the bigger size hoop.
Good Luck
