I would like to wind my own size "L" bobbins. I am unable to wind them on my regular sewing machine. I need the "L" bobbin cases and/ or a sidewinder. Does anyone have a recommendation??

Thank you,

The Pink Sidewinder will wind thread on the empty L sized pre wound bobbins too.

I have the electric Pink Sidewinder and wind the Green bobbins for my Husqvarna/Viking Machine.

The trick is to turn the Green H/V bobbins upside down on the bobbin pin of the winder so the thread winds on the bobbin in the right direction for the machine.

The pink sidewinder will wind bobbins for several brands of machines. If you search using Google you should be able to get information on the Sidewinder.

What a great tip for those with Husq! Well done!

I use a sidewinder to rewind my prefills with colors for satin stitching and lace (that bobbin will not wind on my machines themselves). Love it.

Bonnie, I am not quite clear on your question. Are you trying to re wind prewound bobbins? Sarah.

Not necessarily. I would like to buy some blank size "L" bobbins, and wind them with the colors I use for my FSL work. I have a lot of prewound bobbins, but I would like the backs and fronts of my project to match, especially my 3-D items.

I have Viking Diamond, uses green (or multi color) bobbins and I wind them on the machine itself all the time. I also use prewound L bobbins for embroidery. I cannot rewind the empty prewound bobbin spools in the machine because there aren't little notches around the inside to keep them from slipping on the rewind stem. I don't think even the sidewinder will fill them, but not sure. Linda

Why can you not wind bobbins on your sewing machine? I use the L type bobbins and am able to wind them with all of my sewing machines. I can even wind the L bobbins with the type X sewing machine.

I'm wondering the same thing! Though it's great that my Juki and Janome take the same bobbins as I can wind them on either machine for both, depending which is easier to access at the time.

I bought a sidewinder too, not knowing they didn't work with Husqvarna Viking green bobbins :( It works for my Janome fine.

Thank you, I am borrowing my sister in law's sidewinder today, and will see what happens.

Thanks for asking this question.
If a sidewinder would work with 'L' bobbins I'd buy one. I can't fill the Husqvarna green bobbins on a sidewinder but my machine works well with the prewound bobbins and I have accumulated quite a few of them. I'd like to be able to refill the 'L' bobbins and use them again.
I'm very interested in the replies you get.

Thank you Alma G. When I try a few options I will post my results. Brother.com has the "factory" rewinder but it costs $ 230 through a dealer, and 6 bobbins on a card are $ 18, I am hoping to not have to spend that much!

Yes, it will work for re winding the bobbins, but I just need it for my embroidery machines. I may still purchase it, but I am just not sure yet.
Thanks for your reply and the website!
