After hooping your fabric, stitch out the first colour change - this is the "blankie" the bear is sleeping on - and then place a piece of fabric for the applique over the right-hand half of the hoop and run the second colour change; remove the hoop from your machine but DON'T unhoop the fabric and trim off the surplus applique fabric as close as possible to the stitching. Fix your hoop back on the machine and run the rest of the design. (Sorry about the colour chart, I can't get it to show the correct colours! Please use the photo as a guide!)

Tell me 1 thing if you know, why does my bobbin thead sometimes show on top when I have "skinny" lettering? I did this one on a pink blanket with a flowery patterned applique fabric, and I've just done another one on a blue blanket with a blue stripy fabric so it does work for a boy or a girl.
