UPDATE: It's here and is set up!!! Wow it looked a lot smaller on the floor at the dealer. I am a bit overwhelmed and will tackle it in the morning...Reading the manual as we speak...baby steps...baby steps...Thanks for all of your support and words of encouragement, my Cute family!

Well, I took the plunge and bought the BabyLock Valiant 10 needle machine...it is being delivered tomorrow along with all of the accessories. I am hoping that I have made the right decision...only time will tell! Anyone have a great inexpensive source for Class L Cardboard Sided bobbins? I am looking at the ones from Metro...anyone used them? Thanks Cuties...and wish me luck!

Thanks, Carolyn... I think my first "project" will be to just be able to embroider a simple built in design and not have a catastrophe~

Congratulations on the new Babylock. I know you will love it. You do not need luck you have the talent and expertise to do what ever you want and do it well, I've never used any of the prewound bobbins so cannot help you there/Lillian

Congrats on your new machine, for you, it will pay off. You could always sell some of our designs, like and invoice for pay pal, hint, hint. I use the plastic sided size A from them. Love them

Thanks, Smokey...I have thought about selling my designs, but it is just too involved with bookkeeping, taxes, web interfaces, etc...I am retired and I feel that undertaking the task of selling my designs would just put a damper on my enjoyment of embroidering...

Have fun playing with your new machine. For the bobbins, try Superior Threads, they are great quality and I use their bobbins in my longarm machine.

My Brother and Babylock machines are fine with the cardboard bobbins from Metro..I tear away the cardboard from the top of the bobbin--I read somewhere--but it allows you to see how much thread remains. Metro has good products and reasonable prices.

Thanks for the information on the bobbins...do you use them on both a multi needle and combo sewing/embroidery machine too?

Wow, lucky you Kim. I hope it all goes well and that you have years of enjoyment from it. I've never used cardboard sided bobbins, so I can't offer an opinion, but reading others below they seem to be fine. Good luck with it all. Love Chris

Congratulations! I want one. Let us know how you like it. I want a larger hoop, and multi-needle so I don't have to change thread as often. I'm anxious to hear how it goes for you.

Wow, Is this a big Machine? I am taking my Bernina in tomorrow for service. My dealer also sells Babylock so I will have a look. What is the largest hoop the Valiant has and did you have to pay $500 extra to get it? That is what Bernina does. The largest hoop does not come with the machine. You have to pay extra for it. I think Babylock had a 5 or 6 yr. finance a couple of weeks ago. I know you are happy. Kay

Thanks, Kay...It is a BIG machine...at least for me...It will take both me and my DH to move it...and we have stairs to negotiate too...not looking forward to that aspect...the largest hoop is 14" x 14" and my dealer included it...I did have to purchase some of the other specialty hoops though...but I got a good price on them so I went ahead and just splurged!

katydid by katydid 13 Jul 2017

I know I was full of questions and appreciate your answers. I understand this machine requires the service to come to you. Are you comfortable with that?

I'm so glad you took the plunge and bought the Valiant. I love all of my Babylock machines so I'm sure you will love the Valiant once you have made a few things and are comfortable. I buy all of my embroidery supplies from Allstitch. They only sell supplies for embroidery machines.I wish you many years of happy stitching.

I have used both Class A & L for my machines from Metro and haven't had any problems with either. They have the best prices too.
Enjoy your new machine....you deserve it.

Truthfully I would have to check if I bought the cardboard ones. Due to my broken leg I can not go upstairs to check.
All I know that they are the L type
