Another lesson learned--I have bought several designs from Embrotique, and love them. But, on ith project directions, they say to use Press 'n seal. I thought to myself "no way in the world will that stuff work". Well, I tried it today and it is wonderful! clings so perfectly when you have to lay something in the hoop (like elastic or a folded pocket piece) and you have to hope that it stays just so. The press 'n seal absolutely is perfect. Between washi tape and press 'n seal, I maybe won't waste so much tear away just holding things in place! Yay!

According to the Glad Australia Facebook page it is not available in Australia because of commercial restrictions. I bought some years ago and haven't seen it in the shops since.

I'm so sorry about that. If I knew how, I'd send you some!

Thanks for the offer. I am curious as to what the "commercial restrictions" might be.

Saw that mentioned on a quilt program years ago. Some people had problems getting it out from the stitches.

What I saw wasn't on dense stitching, so it might be difficult in that situation.

next time I make an applique block on my sewing machine, I will use press 'n seal. I use way too many pins, and this is so much simpler.

So...are you talking about the Glad Press N Seal Wrap or something else? Not sure I know how you are using tear away to hold things in place.

Glad Press 'n seal. When making an ith zipper bag or something similar, sometimes the directions will say to lay the back lining and batting on top, and top with tear away to keep it from hanging up under the embroidery foot. Now I'm not gonna have to do that any more!

I seem to waste too much tear away stabilizer using it on top of things, and Press 'n seal has to be cheaper.

Thank you for sharing your new found tip. Great idea. Should be good for applique also. Hugs, Barba

So, are you using it in place of blue or masking tape?

Yes, and it was great. Just lay the zipper or fabric piece or or whatever down, and lay the press 'n seal over it. It adheres to the stabilizer and fabric and you just sew right through it. It tears away cleanly and no adhesive marks or gummy needle.

Smokey12 by Smokey12 07 May 2017

Thank you, I'll give it a try.

I did try it on a practice piece, and was amazed at it. I won't be afraid to use it ever again.

It was great. I used scrap fabric, and even a needle that needed to be changed just in case, and I was so impressed with how well it worked.
