NEVER PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR EAR SMALLER THAN YOUR ELBOW!!!/Lillian
Regardless of it's original intended use you could always use pointy end as an olive picker or cake tester. Just an idea. An ear picker NO, I wouldn't.
I believe that it is an ear picker and when you have a small amount of wax in the bowl, you use it to grease button thread! Bit like bees wax that tailors use.
This whole thread is making me scratch my head, lol. Whoever heard of an ear picker in a sewing kit. What will they think of next.
This made me think of a man that I used to work with that would scratch the inside of his ear with the point of a pencil. The inside of his ear always looked like a child's pencil art.
Don't all of you have an ear picker in your sewing room? I'm shocked!
That is too funny. Why would it be included in a sewing kit?
OMG, makes my ears itch just thinking about it........how funny!
This is making me laugh so hard.....an ear picker LOL Darlene
It's official, the company got back to me and said:
"And the metal tool is curette,as the name implies, this is an ear-picker."
I thought it might be for cleaning ear wax out of the ear.Have seen similar ones on the Antique Road Show but couldn't understand why it would be in a sewing kit.
How curious. I hope you get to the bottom of this mystery soon.
Believe it or not, it's an ear pick. They are common in emergency sewing kits??? I guess they think you might need to clean the wax from your ears. LOL Ya learn something new everyday.
I'm with Marian...I think it could be used to push a needle through a thick or heavy fabric...but really not too sure...looks more like a cuticle pusher that would be in a manicure set...
It's a tiny ice cream scoop for dieters.......lol....of course I have no idea. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Could it be for helping push a needle through thick fabric like thimble?
i have seen something similar while overseas and they use them to clean ears. I've seen them in manicure sets. Not sure why they would be in a sewing set.
It reminds me of the PURPLE THANG like an instrument when you want to push out points on corners of items. Yours is obviously metal, but mine is plastic. Hope someone else comes along with another suggestion. Love Chris
Yes, I considered that but it's not like any corner pusher I've ever seen before. Still, I could be wrong. Thank you.
That looks like an interesting gadget, never seen anything like that before, Jean
