Ooh yay thread shredding party! Im sewing the lace tree skirt edging from one of the oesd christmas collections and everything was fine until about 10000 stitches and between there and 15 ive had the thread shred on me 3 times. Last time this happened on a lace piece i fixed it by changing from the 75/11 needle to 90/14, so that means its heat and friction in the eye right? I slowed the machine down too and that didnt work. I think the titanium needles are supposed to help with that and this is in fact my last needle so maybe ill try those. This doesnt always happen though, which is weird and one of the times it was on the first layer of underlays not all the intersecting satins.

Practice the pause. When in doubt, pause. When angry, pause. When stressed pause. And when you pause, pray. By then the machine should have cooled off, too. :)

I changed the needle and the bobbin and cleaned out the bobbin fluff and all that and it still wont stop so i took off embroidery thing and put it under the table to think about what its done and im gonna actually get around to sewing stuff for my friend and extending my cats harness (apparently most cats with an 18" chest dont have jiggly old lady arms?)

I am so sorry that happened. It is so frustrating. When I have that kind of problem, I change my bobbin. For some reason, they don't always wind perfect or the bobbin is just in a bad mood. I would try that and see what happens.

It could also be something in the bobbin area. This happened to me on one of the FSL pieces. I had broken a needle and after that the thread kept on braking. After the 3rd try of cleaning the bobbin case I found a tiny, tiny thread. Smooth going after that. Sorry you are on your last needle. That is why I get them in bulk

I broke two needles the other day because i was to the end of a spool of thread and it got caught on the edge of the spool
