My needle threader is not threading - it is off to the right of the needle just a bit. I have a Babylock Ellisimo Gold that is about 4 years old. Is there an easy fix to this or will I have to cart it to the repair guy? It will take weeks to get it back and I want to avoid it!!! I have changed the needle.... any suggestions? Thanks Bunches, Laura

My problem is a little worse than yours, my entire needle threading part fell off. After I read Kim's post about how hard it is for a non tech person to replace it I will continue threading the old fashioned way until I need to take my machine in for a bigger problem. Thankfully this is my smaller machine that I don't use as much. Glad to see that you resolved your problem.

I am sorry about your threader - that would require a visit to the repair guy!!! My tech said if the threader needed to be replaced - and I have him a "heads up" as to when I was bringing it in - he would repair it in a hour for me. Hope you have a tech like him!! Hugs!!!

Teresa, Ellisimo's...perhaps yours might be easier to replace...you might check with your repair tech and see it is easier on your model to replace it...

My repair tech is a 1 1/2 hour drive each way so I will wait for a bigger problem before I take my machine in. There is one closer but he is very rude, calls my machines "Walmart machines" because they are not the top of the line machines that he sells. I refuse to do business with him. If you didn't buy your machine from him he has no time for you. This other guy will fix my machine the same day if I call ahead and let him know that I am coming. (And I didn't buy my machines from him either). That is someone who knows the meaning of customer service.

I broke the needle threader on my brother machine but because it is an older machine I don't want to put any money into it, would rather save up for a new one. Everything else on it works great. it embroiders perfect. I'm pretty good at threading by hand and I don't mind at all.

Teresa, I was thinking if your model had a needle threader that could be easily replaced, your tech might be able to send it to you and you could install it yourself...

I sent him an email this afternoon.. It would be wonderful if it was an easy fix.

Glad you found an easy fix. Years ago my threader went out and the 4th repairman fixed it. Now I keep these by my machine just in case.

So pleased to read your problem was only a bad batch of needles. I am still having problems with the needle threader on my Janome 11000. I have had parts replaced but to no avail. The sales person just keeps saying "You will just have to thread it the old fashioned way" What is the point of having a auto needle threader if it does not work is my answer to her.

No way is that a good solution - I am sorry that is what your sales person said!! The repair technician that I spoke with said he thought that the needle threader was one of the best addition to sewing and embroidery machines!! I agree - I hope you can take it to a different store and a different repair person!!

Karen - turned out it was a small batch of "bad" needles. Thank goodness! It works now!

I have the Ellisimo Gold too...and the needle threader is not easy to replace...I had to have mine done a couple of months ago...I asked my dealer service tech if he could send me the part so I could install it...he helps me a lot over the phone with easy fixes...Unfortunately, the needle threader is actually 3 pieces that need to be removed and when replaced, lined up perfectly...quite the process. Bottom line is when he told me how complicated it was, I opted to go see him...he allowed me to sit with him and take notes and pictures of each stage of the replacement process...he also sent me home with another complete needle threading assembly for the "next" time...but to be honest, I am not sure that even with the notes and replacement needle threader that I could do it myself...there is also a "tricky" little spring that needs to be released to remove the assembly and then replaced when installing the new one...it takes a little tool with a little hook on the end...and it is not easy to get to or see...and if you don't know how to "stop" the needle threader when it comes down before it retracts again...I cannot see any way you can get to the little metal threader itself to bend it back into place...

I just got off the phone with my dealer's repair guy and he very kindly suggested I try a few more needles ... and guess what - it works now. He said if it didn't he would have to replace the whole threader. Your info was right on tract!!! Thanks Kim!! Hugs, Laura*

Laura I havean Ellegante, not much difference in them. I found a a small pair of needle nosed pliars and a magnifying mirror and bbent the wires back where they were supposed to be. Mine pulls right off and I bet yours does also but it has to be on the machine to do that so you can push it with your finger to see when the wire is aligned with the needle eye.. I found out how easy they are to come off when mine fell off one day. Called my dealer, he laughed and told me pop it back on and said make sure it's aligned with needle eye . /Lillian

Oh, Lillian - thank you, I will give that a try!!! I can't believe what a baby I am having to thread the machine by hand - hahaha!!! I want my threader working again!!! LOL! Thank you!!! Laura*

I am totally useless if I have to thread my machine by hand. It would take hours for me to get anything done. You are not a Baby, just a person with less then perfect eyesight. Ha, ha

dailylaundry by dailylaundry 28 Jul 2016

Oh, now you have caught me - yup, my eyesight has become "less than perfect" - you made me laugh right out loud!!

If I have difficulty threading the needle by hand, I starch about one inch of thread. I use Best Press. I just put a little on my finger and wet the thread with it by pulling it down straight. It dries in seconds. Then I cut the end just a little to give it a sharp tip. The thread is stiff so it goes straight. It helps to put something white behind the needle too. I us an index card. Threading the needled on my Bablylock serger is extremely hard for me, but this method solved that problem.

I would call your dealer and ask. I have a different machine but when mine got off they told me a quick fix. Good luck.
