.Beautiful pictures of you my friend Toogie. Happy to hear that it will be better for you. A little more each day. With much patience and exercises it will get better and better. Following my accident, I thought I would never walk. With 4 months of physiotherapy, I could start walking gradually. And now, 10 years later, it goes well.
Your GD Nora is so sweet.
Bigs hugs and take care of you
Hugs, Céline
Sorry I missed this until now. Praying for a speedy recovery.Hugs
Toogie, I hope you are doing well every day a bit more. I think ly husbznd can understand you very well 'cios he has a brace too. He has a knee surgery in the beginning of January. Furst they gave him a plaster now a brace. And he has to sleep with it. Not easy to walk with and I need to drive him everywhere. On monday we go for a checkup and they will change the degrees on the brace again so he can move his knee a bit more. But It is a long road before it will be finished. So take your time, do not try to do/ step too much. Follow what your body can handle. Day by day. Take care. Linda
Can't handle much today. My hip is killing me- when I went to the Orthopedic Tuesday he said it was probably bursitis. Tomorrow I finish the steroids.
Good to see that you are doing well! Nice weather where you are, also. Kay
Yes, it wasn't too cool and hubby may regret offering us to go out. I saw crepe myrtles needed topping and rose bushes needed cutting back, etc so he started trimming in the yard while Nora and I watched.
Shorts and green grass??Oh how i wish***
Happy for you Toogie hugs
Thanks Carolyn. I usually just hang out in my gown, makes it easier going to bathroom on one leg. Now I can use the other leg as long as I have the brace on, I needed something on my leg at the top so brace would stay in place. When I stand it wants to slip down my leg. I tighten strap but it still won't stay...Some of the grass is getting green but still a lot of dead.
great, it will go better day by day, keep on going , but don't overdo. Hugs
Well, I won't be over doing today. Hubby has been in and out today, once to help a friend and now to help a brother, so no walking when I am alone. I don't know if its being sitting all day or what, but I've taken half my steroids and my hip is hurting still. I just hope its not gonna be like Chris' hip problem. She just told me she is in hospital again! Thanks for listening to me-Toogie
Looking good!! Mind that you do not overdo!!
Standing FEELS good! I feel taller- lol- ( and unfortunately wider) hubby can cook and has been feeding me well!- I'll try not overdo but it's so hard not to try to get better by doing. When I ask the PT if I could ice my leg more than 3 times a day, 30 minutes each time. He was excited and said yes. The way he talked he sometimes has trouble getting some patients to do the minimum, so he was thrilled when I told him I need another tube of the pain relieving gel, I use after icing. I am doing my part, so only time will tell when recovery is complete.-Toogie
You look beautiful! And you wear the brace so well. I'm glad you finally are up on your feet. Your smile tells the story. And now you and Nora can have walker races. At a walking pace, of course. I hope the bursitis clears up quickly. Thank goodness for steroids.
You're right Karen, thank goodness for meds and medical equipment when they're needed. I didn't like being confined to chair but I was thankful it did get me from point A to point B- I hope the bursitis clears up soon too. Never had it before and be glad when it's gone!- thanks Karen for the compliment ..... Are you due for an eye exam? - lol- just kidding you
Good that things are getting better. Hope Nora is Ok too. You look good BTW
Thank you, you're sweet to say I look good so don't zoom!!- lol - Nora's coin still hasn't surfaced.... Doesn't seem to bother her but she still hasn't been eating well, when we have her, at least I noticed. Sometimes children are like that anyway, though. Maybe it will turn up soon, if it wasn't out the day at the dentist.
happy to hear things are improving, don't try to go to fast, slow and steady are the way to go.
take care
hugs
Michelle
I will try to but I will be glad to be up and about again, doing what I wanna do, going where I wanna go on my own. Hubby has been the best caretaker. Showers were the worst at first for him and me . Now he just has to help me in and out. I can bend my leg enough to wash everything but that foot. He just had to help with my legs and my back, until I felt like I wasn't gonna slip out of the bath chair- lol-
Thanks for the pictures, Toogie! You look good and Nora is adorable!
Please don't overdo it....
I'll try not overdo. I was so excited yesterday and thought I'd sleep better last night but not so. I got up kinda feeling bad. I love mornings, I guess you could say I'm a morning person. My leg was a little stiffer, I still don't have full motion with it, and my hip still bothers me. I'm about halfway through meds for hip bursitis, if that IS what it is, so I'm hoping it will stop hurting soon... All that being said I am still happy to be upright again😀
Looking good Toogie and I hope you don't overdo it. Nora looks really cute trying to mimic you. Love Chris
So far I haven't overdone but the PT set me back about a week, when he pushed me a little to far. I think it scared him, as much as me because he knows I have ostoperosis. A week of just the Tens machine and ice and I was good to go again. - Nora is a ham and I just love to hear her laugh or get tickled.
I like how Nora thinks.. if it' good for Grams then it's good for me. I can remember the excitement when I first got out of my wheelchair I naturally over did it, so try not to do that.. we don't want any set backs. Marian
Marian had you fallen too or had surgery? I am thankful to be healing. I just got a call. A lady we know is having both her legs amputated this morning. She is two years older than me, but has been paralyzed since she was a young mother, due to a car accident. My hubby's friend that called to talk to hubby, told me that when I answered the phone, but he didn't know why she was having to have them amputated. ... Yes I am thankful......Nora is something special. I need to be the best role model I can, because her mom says she sure talks a lot about Gram, at home.
You are looking good Toogie. Just do not do too much. Nora is an absolute cutie.
Sarah, you are a doll to say that I look good but in the photo I see circles under the eyes and all the weight I need to take off, from not being able to get around for 3 months. You are right about Nora, she is a sweetie pie, makes us laugh.
Glad to hear you are progressing well, slow and steady don't overdo it to start with. Nora is so cute. Sandra.
Thanks Sandra, she makes our day sometimes. I laugh because she always wants to do what 'Gram' does. (just so she doesn't break her leg) But I'm not mimicking her. I'm not swallowing any necklace or coins!
Sounds like things are progressing nicely. Nora is adorable. Best wishes on you weekend walks. cyber hugs to you too!
Thanks for the hugs and well wishes. The doctor and PT are pleased at my progress. The doctor still wants me to get more motion in my bends, so I still have a ways to go, but hey,I'm up off my tush. My hip has been killing me, sitting so long-11 weeks 3 days!!!
Oh that pic of Nora is so sweet. Who is the world is keeping your house so clean??? It is a wonder you've been sewing at all.
My SIL and I have been laughing, at what I told her happened, when we got home today. It seems we had no sooner got inside and hubby went to get the walker!-lol-You would think he is ready to retire from housework!-lol-I said he's been doing so good with the cooking, washing and mopping, I think I'll just let him keep doing them or we can take turns. One month is mine and the next is his, that way he can do DEC, Christmas again-lol
