feeling sad....Our local Church has been burgled, yes it's unbelievable! They stole the silver Chalice and other Communion things, little plate and box for the wafers. Also the beautifully decorated silver/bone handle 'trowel/cake-server' used to lay the Foundation Stone in 1905. A small cupboard with green felt inside on the shelf and partitions too has gone. Please keep a look-out in the 2nd Hand/pawn shops [Australians] for me. Vickiannette from South Australia

I hope you can find the things that belonged to your church. Our world becomes sadder by the day.

Such an affront to you and to the church itself. Sorry this has happened. At my former church, thieves rolled up the lovely Persian carpet that led to the altar and walked out with it in broad daylight, pretending it was going out to be dry-cleaned.

Dear Vicki, I do pray that the items that were stolen can be located. Was the Pyx (box) and Paten (plate) made of Silver too? Being sacred items I imagine they wouldn't be very easy to sell. Love Chris

It is a sad fact of society now that this happens. Many churches in the UK are locked and there are notices that there is nothing of value on the premises. So very sad.

It always amazes me how low some people will stoop, they definitely don't have any concept of right and wrong.

this is real sad, why is not there respect anymore for the belongings and treasures of churches and belongings of other people. Most of the time things get lost, sold or melted for a price. But the price is nothing compares to the real value , or to the emotional value.... It's very sad....that even the house of the Lord isn't a safe place anymore.

I hope they did not melt down silver to sell as they did here 25 to 30 yrs a go when silver shot up so high. The thieves did it as not to be detected with heirlooms. What a shame to loose treasures of your church. I hope they can be recovered. Kay

I think the thieves image that they will do this or sell it as silver, but I think that it has very little silver content, as it never ever tarnished. thank you Kay.

My heart grieves for you and the members of the church. That is so heart breaking to have the Lord's House treated so shabbily.
