Thought I would share some past pictures of my great-niece on her first birthday wearing her petti-skirt...I have made them for all five of my grand-nieces for their first birthday...and little Penelope will be celebrating her first birthday in May...I have her turquoise petti-skirt posted in projects...but they are so much cuter when they are worn my a cutie herself! This is Leah...six years ago...my very first little cutie!

Such an adorable baby and the skirt is just too cute. Well done. By the way, how long does it take to make one of these and how much fabric do you use for one this age? Love Chris

Chris- not sure about how long they would take to make but the lower edge since it is a nylon chiffon and not having to be turned and stitched could make it not a too time consuming project, just a lot of ruffles. The Martha Steward site stated these top materials as needed,
Satin charmeuse (1 1/2 yards)
Nylon chiffon (about 3 yards)
1-inch-wide ribbon elastic
Iron-on interfacing (1 1/2 yards)

Hope this helps, Pam

Thanks, Pam...I used sparkly bridal tulle and it was 54" wide...it took almost 6 yards...and less than 1/4 yard of the Satin Charmeuse (not sure why the pattern called for so much) ...it really does go quickly once you figure out the ruffle gathering ratio to get each layer of ruffles to the correct length...I used a gathering foot, too...it made it very easy to gather the layers of tulle...

...and it took about 6 hours to complete...

Dragonflyer- good to know that the pattern needed double for bridal tulle and also glad to know you needed far less of the satin chartreuse, glad I had not used the fabric list provided on the site! When sewing I rarely use some companies fabric quotes and will use the actual pattern pieces to figure my own list and then also remember to add material for those that do shrink. Hope I did not lead anyone astray with posting those numbers. It is just such a sweet skirt and would easily be adaptable for larger toddler to young girls.
