I have come across a great deal(to me) on a Singer 6000 sewing/embroidery machine.Less than $1000.00.My question is Does anyone here on Cute own one? Do you like it? As some may recall I sold my top of line embroidery machine when an emergency arose. I doubt if I can ever again save that much to buy another fancy embroidery machine.Should I just buy an all sewing Bernina 350 and just be happy to even have a machine? Have seen one here locally for $600.00 Thanks for any and all advice. Stella

Stella, check out www.kenssewingcenter for reasonable prices on new, refurbished, and used gently loved machines. They are located in Alabama and have a great reputation. I have purchased a sewing machine from them in the past. Great customer service, warranty and quick delivery. If I had a great sewing machine, I would go for an embroidery machine only, because you will find one less expensive than a combo machine. My first machine was a combo and I rarely use it for anything except embroidery; could have found an embroidery only machine much cheaper.
Hugs, Angel

I have the XL6000 embroidery by Singer and love it. It is a top of the line machine, but out of date. I love the automatic threading. You have to have the mini software and cable to download designs from the computer to machine or a smart media card and reader writer instrument. I use Embird and smart media cards. To be complete it should have the endless hoop and design card.
Stitching is perfect and I have had no trouble. I am still learning things that it can do. If the stitch count is low and all the feet and parts are there, encluding the cable and endless hoop and card, and if I could find a few smart media cards and reader instrument I would not be afraid of buying it and I would say it is a very good price. It really is a wonderful machine, but I would realize it could fail at any time.
It is out of date and probaly the mother board and other parts will be hard to find if needed.

Stella, I would highly recommend a Babylock or Brothers. Have read what others have said about the Singers and agree, "they are not what they use to be" I learned to sew on a singer more than 65 yrs ago. back then they were the best that could be bought, after the company was bought they have not been that good. I have had a Bernina and now have a Baby Lock Ellegante 2/Lillian

Check with your dealer. Now that the Destiny is out, people are trading in their Elissimos. You might be able to get a really good deal on one.
I do hope you are able to get another good machine at a good price and soon.

Some people love their Singers, and I used to have one that was made when they were still made well. I have a friend who has 3 Singer Embroidery machines and they just keep breaking. They are so expensive to fix, she just buys new ones.

The Singer Xl5000 and XL6000 were actually made by Juki and are very good machines. The problem may be getting your designs to the machine. Does the software come with it?

Stella , I know nothing about this machine, but singer does not always have the reputation that it once had. You know I am a Bernina girl through and through, but I know many are happy with their Babylock's. If you have a Bernina dealer or a Babylock dealer near, go there and tell them you are interested in a great trade in when one comes in. I am in your boat as I live on a pension and Social security. No more new machines for me!!! No husband to buy it for me either. Kay

After a Babylock Ellisimo I guess anything else would not be up to standards. The only thing I see wrong with a 350 Bernina is slight yellowing on side panel . I asked if I could have it on trial basis to have it checked by a Bernina dealer. Lady will agree to this. She is willing to put it in writing. So I guess I'll hold off for a bit on an embroidery machine. Thanks for everyone's input. Stella

I am not up on the 350. What are the hoop sizes?

I bought the lowest priced model of the Brother that sews and embroiders, and I also have a Quattro 3, and I'm very impressed with all my little machine will do. It uses a 4x4 hoop and does a good job! Only $300 in the US.

No hoops on the 350 This is just a sewing machine. Was hoping to get a 730 bernina or a babylock Ellegante but have not found one I can afford.

Hi Stella...I don't know about the machine you are asking about....but...from what I know about Singer these days...Pass....They are not once what they once were...save your money...I can vouch for BabyLock and Brother...do your research and then decide...but I would certainly pass on the Singer...sorry...

The Singer 6000 machine is it being sold by an individual? If so why? I have heard some horror stories about the Singers of today. If you already have a sewing only machine, think about purchasing a Bro PE700. I've seen them on the web for less than $600. If you also need a sewing machine, I'd still think about the Bro PE700 and maybe the Bernina 350 or another Brother only sewing machine. A Brother dealer would still service both machines. Also from time to time Brother has free financing from their dealers. Also ask dealers about machines that may have been traded in on the newest and see what they can do for you.

Let us know what you do.

I would buy a used Babylock or Brother from a dealer that will back up the sale for at least 90 days. I do not think you would be happy with a Singer. My local Singer dealer will not take them in on trade at all. He says they are worthless and only sells them because he has to because of the contract he signed.

Well, as a lot of people would agree, Singer does not have a very good reputation anymore. If you are buying from a private party, I would think long & hard about it...or ask for a service ck to be done.
