I watched it on film on yesterday. Missed most of the shows unfortunately but enjoyed the final, both Matt and Lorna were very good, must have been difficult to decide who to choose. Matt was Worthy winner. Wonder if he will go on to become a tailor.

Neil had won many of the garment of the week throughout the series and there was a week when he won all 3 challenges. I think that Matt already has a job as and IT consultant. I think that that will be more lucrative than something in tailoring, but then the programme was about sewing and not tailoring as that is time consuming and complicated from my far off memories

Mat was sew good to help Lorna, and I just love the way he (Mat) cuts his fabric, sew useful for those slippy slidey ones.

As for applying for next year - the time pressure would finish me in the first round! AND if I did what I did yesterday when making culottes......
I completely turned the fabric and sewed the front to back with front waist edge sewn to back hem edge AND I had done some top stitching BEFORE I saw what I had done. Just goes to show there's always another way waiting to trip one up. I've made loads of pyjama trousers in my time, but it was the length that did for me as I not double checking before machine. Ah well I'm sure this won't be the last error. It all adds to life little experiences doesn't it.

I am sure that we all have some 'mistakes' in our sewing at some time or another. You were on your way to making something quite unique

I just think it was great that someone who had not been sewing for years and was male won as the past two winners had both been sewing for years

I've only just seen the final of the 2014 Great British Sewing Bee where Heather won with that stunning red evening dress with black pleated top. I loved the Welsh woman she was so funny. Love Chris

P.S. I'm just watching some on YouTube, because we can't get to see it.

Heather's dress was stunning and she was a worthy winner. It is brilliant this year that there were 4 men competing and 2 ended up in the final. Lynda was/is unique and is back in the classroom helping and also I think has a sewing club for the pupils. Hopefully you will be able to see the 2015 version sometime soon.

I've just watched two episodes where they sewed with leather, lace, neoprene etc. The final show is not available as yet. I'll keep my eyes open for it. Love Chris

A really enjoyable final I think one of the best so far, because I loved the way Matt cut out I secretly hoped he would win, so I am one happy sewer this morning!!! Jo
No I wouldn't enter, I think it should be renamed 'The Great British Dressmaking B

I too have used Matts cutting out method but not used stones as I used paperweights. Glad to hear that you are happy

Asterixsew, you're brilliant, I've got paperweights, thought I was going to have to go to the garden centre for some small cobbles. Jo

You can make small pincushions and fill them with rice. I'm sure I've seen an ITH design for "pattern weights" somewhere.

I think any one of them could have won last night. I was happy for Matt, though, he seems to be a real sweetie. Lorna couldn't have made her draped top without his help.
I'm certainly not going to enter. I might if it was about creative sewing, but it is all dressmaking and I don't do a lot of that nowadays.

They did work well as a team as well as being individuals. They were all worthy winners. One only really saw the finished item and not the construction process or the quality of the work

Watched it. Absolutely loved the first challenge and wish I could get that pattern.
1. I was a little surprised Neil did not do as well as he used to.
2. My daughter has plans to enter me in the Dutch version, together with my son's MiL - here you have to enter as a couple. But knowing how much time and efford is involved in the selection rounds alone (ii know two couples of the final three) I'll pass!

I want that pattern as well! I think Neil tried too hard.

asterixsew by asterixsew 13 Mar 2015

I am another who would like the pattern, maybe its in the new book which I saw for sale in Smiths but as it was shrink wrapped I was unable to peek

There us a Burda book of Japanese patterns. I think it might be in that. http://www.burdastyle.co.uk/sewin...

Could not see it. Back to Germany. But my friend recorded all parts of the 2015 series for me. Regrettably not the final tonight. I know Matt was the winner while I had thought Neil but Neil obviously came up with something very strange (according a detail picture on facebook).

The inspiration for his dress came from his life in the army and places that he had been posted. It was interesting but he was unable to do his usual and pull it out of the bag
