I have something to share & this is something i have just learned. You may already know this but if not you may find it useful. I know I did. As most of you know we are re-doing our office we have taken out the carpet & put down flooring. I was worried that the computer chairs would scratch the floor so we went ahead & bought an area rug. Then I found out on Monday that there are special wheels for the pc chairs that are designed for hardwood or laminate even ceramic tile. I had no idea. Pic #1 if for laminate flooring & I have to say it is really quiet. Pic #2 is for the plastic mat that we had over top of the carpet for easier rolling. The ceramic wheels are white not grey with a black middle. So now we have the right wheels for the job & no worries about scratching the new floor. I have one of these chairs in my studio as well so now that I have learned there is a difference I will be changing that room as well. I hope this has enlightened those of you who like me had no idea there were special wheels for our sewing & pc chairs lol

That makes much more sense than laying a rug down on hard flooring.
Good work for sharing the info!!

Anxious to know how these work for you. I did not realize what the chair wheels were doing to my laminate floor and suddenly realized the wheels had almost worn off the finish. I was able to refresh the finish and then put down a plastic mat to roll on. Keep us informed! Hugs. Nan W

they are really quiet & have not left any marks. A very good thing Nan.The clerk actually told us that if the mat is in a warm climate on bare floors it can cause your floor to discolour? So we have not put our mats down as it does get warm in the summer even with the air on. Happy to hear you could repair the finish on yours~hugs~

Sorry Marian your hubby was right......Pic # 2 is the wheel that came with our chair & pic #1 is the new wheel for the new floor. & quite pricey too but if it saves the floor well worth it. ~hugs~

I didn't know this either. I will be investigating next time i visit the hardware store. I like to move my sewing cabinets and chairs around often depending on what projects I am making

I did not know they made different types of rollers. I need to get ones for hardwood floors. When we built our house and put all hardwood floors, I put a piece of carpet by the computer because I didn't want to ruin the hardwood. Thank you for this information. Joyce

Never thought about this because we only have carpet & Italian tiles on our floors. Something to remember for the future.

Thanks Loralye, I didn't know that. I've got the lower ones on my 2 chairs - so I need to change them to the laminated type ones in your top picture. So I'll need 10 wheels as there are 5 on each chair!!!! Love Chris
