I am looking in to purchasing embroidery software. My sister has the basic 6D software which I have mastered. The 6D software is quite expensive and I think there might be less expensive programs the I can master. The two programs I found were Embird and Embrillance. The Embrillance looks me to be the easier and less expensive programs. Is the Embird a better program? I am only interested in digitizing for my own use. Nothing professional. I know you cuties with steer me in the right direction so I'd appreciate your insights. Thanks.

If you have mastered the software you have, you may be better sticking with it. I use Embird and won't master it in several lifetimes!

I was able to master 6D but it is soooooooooo expensive. These other two programs seem to fit more into my budget. This embroidery hobby can really run up the dollars.

Can't speak to Embrillance, but I have Embird Basic and Iconizer...love them...also have Janome MBX and Palette 9 for digitizing...but seriously considering either adding Embird Studio for digitizing...or perhaps getting the new Floriani software...neither of them need a dongle...and the Floriani updates are free forever...or with Embird very little cost...

Thanks so much for your input. They both seem like great programs. It's hard to decide.

I use Embird and love it. You can buy just the modules you want. I think Basic and Iconizer is the best place to start. You can add on Studio (digitizing) and Sfumato if you want to start creating your own designs. Their Yahoo groups are really helpful and you can get any question you have by posting there.

No experience with Embird but I really like Embrillance. They have directions you can print to make a book or save to your computer and when I have had a question, the response was quick and helpful. I have a Viking D1 that uses floppy disks and a Delux Diamond that uses a flash drive. Embrillance makes loading to either one very simple. I combine designs, change sizes, add lettering with ease. I just finished "designing" a patch for our grandson's racing suit and he was pleased. Embrillance made it easy. I don't digitize or want to.

I agree about Embrilliance and want to add that they have wonderful customer service. I like not having a security dongle and you can purchase the different modules separately as needed or wanted. Hugs. Nan W

Can you digitize with embrillance?

Yes there is a Embrilliance Digitizing Program called Stitch Artist. There are 2 levels that you can purchase right now and there will be a third level released soon.

Thanks for your help. I'll have to download both free trials I guess since both seem to be good programs.

I have worked with the free trial Embrilliance program and found it to be much simpler then the Embird. I love that your can print out the instructions. That was a big help getting started. Thanks.
