You can always use a smaller hoop, but If your machine maxes out at 10".........pattern you want is a 12".........

I've been wanting to upgrade from my Brother SE350! What great responses! Helped me out too!!! Thanks!
I agree with the others.
Brother is supposed to be coming out with a 6x10 embroidery only machine that will be less expensive than the combo machines with that size hoop - I understand it has been delayed due to all of the port issues but it might be out in a few months. Might be worth a look....
PS: I went from a Brother 5*7 to a Brother Quattro (twin to the Baby Lock Ellisimo) and have not regretted spending the money myself.
Do u happen to know the costs of the Quattro, Duetta, 1500D, or Dream Machine2200?
Go as big as your budget will allow...I have a BabyLock Ellisimo and love it...sister to the Brother Quattro...I would stick with Brother or go BabyLock as the accessories and hoops are interchangeable with these two manufacturers...
My advice would be to stick with Brother since all your accessories, hoops, feet, would be interchangeable. Hugs. Nan W
Probably either the Janome 15000 or the Brother Quattro would be the ultimate machines for bigger hoops as they can also do other regular sewing so that one bigger machine can be as versatile as two slightly smaller ones if space in your sewing area is a concern. It is fun to have a machine that takes the bigger hoops, but sometimes its still great to have one that can easily be used for little designs on little things for babies and small children, without having to rip seams undone first or waste a lot of stabilizer or use more expensive sticky stabilizer; the Janome 350E can use a small free-arm hoop for 2 inch square designs, which I personally find more useful than the 3X1 hoop that comes with the first machines I mentioned, as well as the slightly bigger than 4X4, and slightly bigger than 5X7, plus the " giga-hoop"; I find I can slip a 4X4 hoop inside a child's size 3 T-shirt, whereas I can't do that with a Quattro 6X6 hoop; while the first two models I mentioned do cater for the much bigger hoop sizes e.g. the Brother Quattro's largest hoop included with the machine is 12X8. If you mostly embroider small projects then the extra cost of a machine that uses big hoops would be wasted, but, if you mostly embroider bigger things, like large pillows, pictures, table cloths, etc then a machine that uses big hoops will save you having to re-hoop & join parts of large designs. So, with so many good machines to choose from nowadays, your best idea would probably be to give some serious thought to what types of things you would be aiming to embroider most often before you decide what capacity you want in your new machine.
Good luck with your decision-making.
The only emb machine that I have had is the Brother 1500D and am so pleased I did not get anything small than the 10x6 hoop. I would go as big as the bank account can cope with. Welcome to Cute, the best place on the net. Hugs Marg
I agree, having just made the jump to a 6 x 10. Love my new Brother Dream Machine 2200. I'm especially loving it does the trims itself!
