My Mum makes the best date loaf ever! She uses the round cylinder type cake tins - I've got her recipe somewhere. Trevor and I both love date loaf. They look delicious Monika. Love Chris

I think all hubbies are the same. Last week I made some fruit rolls, the ones made in empty fruit tins. I made them with splenda because of our diabetes. Well I could see every time he cut a slice the slices were getting thicker and thicker. All gone!!!!!!! Hugs Marg

sure
500 g of chopped date
1,1/4 cups of sugar
2 cups boiling water
125 g of margarine
1 teaspoon of bi carb soda
add all to a heat proof bowl and let sit till cool
the add 4 cups of SR flour and 2 eggs

this will make 3 loaves , bake at 170c for 40 minutes
They keep very well , and freeze well ,you can spread with butter if you like .
I have tried making them with butter but they turn out very dry

If your hubby is like mine, you are doomed. They look yummy so I can see why it is so hard for him to stay away. I once made 2 batches of cookies and put them in the freezer. My husband found them in hours and ate them all over a week. Oh well, he enjoyed them.
