Remember the old ssaying,"Absence makes the heart grow fonder"? Maybe you need to absent yourself from all the projects for a week or so until you just can't wait to get back to them. Happens to all of us at sometime.
Quit looking at all of them, put all but one out of site and maybe your get-up will return. I know sometimes we can be overwhelmed by it all.
hi there hope you get your fizz back all of us have to speak hard to ourselves to get up and go take a day off for doing nothing but laze around and drink long cool refreshing drinks and maybe a good book enjoy hope you feel better soon
I lost my get up and go too, not ax a result of a heatwave, or the grey dreary skies we have, but the result is the same. All plans and little action. But at linchtime I got a call for a design to be embroidered on a towel and two pieces of cloth. Turned out I had to digitise the design. and, yes, there is permission to digitise it. Being as lethargic as I am I tried the 6D wizard - a 10 minute job, but what a mess. Then digitised it in Embird - took me 2 hours. Hubby sent me upstairs for an afternoon nap, so here I am with my iPad, time-out never worked for me :), but after that I'll have a go. And I am looking forward to doing it!
I get this way quite often, and to pull myself out of the "blahs", I have to make myself get dressed and get outside. A walk in bright sunshine will lift your spirits, as you breath in fresh oxygen (this kinda helps the "fog" brain mode)! Getting out to be amongst others, can sometimes get one in a better mood, whether it be to a restaurant, or shopping a bit. One has to break away from the normal routine to get out of the "rut", so to speak! I need to take my own advice, and get my motor purring!! LOL
Hugs, Angel
Some of us are prone to slipping into depression so it is then extra important to make everything you do as rewarding to yourself as is possible. Take a shower, wear an outfit that makes you feel good, not just your favorite sweats, Eat a favorite meal, if you have a faith say your prayers and read your scriptures and try to think of someone that you could do a little something for that may also be having a rough time. Sometimes when we are really struggling, then doing something for others can help us out of the funk we are in, or if it does not pull you out of that struggle then we have at least lifted another in the time of their struggle. This has helped me over the years and now while I am stuck in this blasted bed, I am only able to pass on words through this wonderful technology called laptop computers and wireless internet so I can connect with others. Do all that you need to keep your spirits up and prayers that all will steer clear of sinking into the blues. Had to almost laugh when I reread this as it almost sounded like the Sewing Ad of the 40's where they were saying to be all dressed up and makeup in place, plus house being tidy before we were to sit down to our machines to sew, so that if our husbands came home early we would be all made up and house clean. Glad we do not still live in that time and age and hope all can see just how far we have come since the 1940's, and had a good smile.
Same here. I think we should be like the bears: They can eat all they want in the spring and summer, sleep all winter and when they wake, they are slim... ha ha ha
I think we all have "Winter Blues". I love it when the days are longer and there is more sunlight.
Sarah lives in the southern hemisphere so it is summer for her at the moment
I guess I am not alone. Getting outside helps, and also I stitching or planning with a friend. Still working on it. Tomorrow will be a stitching day for sure!
I have the same problem. So many details of my insurance policies all changed due to Obama care. I am over whelmed with paper work and websites that are useless. I have not stitched any thing in do long. Kay
Same things is happening with me. Just can't seem to get my sewing MoJo back :(
Mine too - I think it is just too hot and humid to be sewing now. The heat drains my energy and so I end up doing very little.
I've been told there is a time and a place...so since mine has also vanished...it must be neither the time nor the place. Batteries need to be recharged or creativity needs a boost. Am making progress with other things just not sewing or embroidery or crafts. lol
Time for a break? Do something totally different, like clean, sort, throw out, so you have more room for more fabric when you get ready again to sew! I've been organizing books and pitching old magazines today, plus a lot of dusting of those books (too near the embroidery machine!) Not really dust, but lint! When you start back, sew something for yourself for a change! It's okay!
That would be my advice as well! After taking the dog for a long walk, anyway.
I sure know how you feel. Hope your get up and go soon comes back, Best wishes and have a good day!!!
I have been there myself...then all of a sudden something will re-inspire me...
Ah dear Sarah you need a reason to sew so here is one................Make something for yourself! That should be this months challenge! You make a start of it & I promise I will follow suit & make something for me too this month! ~hugs~
you already have a head start having something ready to go so lets go. I'm in Maybe there will be a chain reaction & many more cuties will join in..........no pressure lol
My get up and go is GONE too! But then I am tired from this stress that seems never-ending. But soon enough I will be stitching again. Rest for a couple of days and maybe you will feel better. We all need a break now and then.
You are not alone! I've had a hard time getting going. Anytime I feel this way I keep trying to force myself to do at least a little - really hard! lol!
When I was young, we used to be able to buy heat transfer sayings - you put them on a t-shirt or sweatshirtl. They were placed on the item and the backing for it was like a waxed paper and you ironed it on to your item - well, suprisingly I put one on the front and one on the back of a sweat shirt and one of them said "ARE YOU A MAN OR A MOUSE - COME ON SQUEAK UP" and the other one said "MY GO GO HAS GOT UP AND WENT WENT!"
Needless to say I wore that one out! A lot of comments were made about the sayings I put on it and I've used that saying ever since!
At least it will pass and you'll be back to your sewing and embroidery!
I know, I know--me too! Today I traced a pattern for new emb machine cover, cut out one and need to do another for the matching machine. I have 6 quilts layered and ready to quilt--and here I sit at the computer. Just don't have the "push" ...more like waiting for bedtime. OH, I did bake a batch of oatmeal pecan cookies today--guess I'm just worn out now! haha
Hi awesome1, Bahahahahahha you live up to your name. Your comment made me burst into laughter. I know how you feel, once you get onto the computer time flies bye and before you know it, it is to late to get started with sewing. Thankyou for sharing. Regards Lorraine McNeill of Woodcroft South Australia.
Wish I could share the cookies--yum..glad my ''get up and go'' waited until cookies made before leaving!
I know the feeling. I screen printed a T-shirt years ago with "My get up and go, has got up and went." I had a picture of a fat cat sleeping in a basket. Wore it out. I just loved that T-shirt.
Your "get up and go" is with mine, laying on some beach somewhere soaking up the sun. Heehee. Hugs Marg
Do you know where they have all gone mine would like to join them they sound like they are having a great time...soozie
No idea where they are, hope they come back soon, there is a lot to be done around here. LOL.
" How do I know my youth is all spent?
My get-up-and-go has got up and went!
But in spite of it all, I’m able to grin
And think of the places my getup has been!
I get up each morning and dust off my wits,
Open the paper, and read the Obits.
If I’m not there, I know I’m not dead,
So I eat a good breakfast and go back to bed!"
When I read your post Sarah it made me laugh and I immediately thought of this poem I used to know when growing up. It says it's from an Anonymous contributor. I hope you get betterer!!!! He he he. I'm off to sewing guild today and will do my best to send you positive vibes to sew something yourself. Love Chris
Hi Chris, As I read this poem out to Keith, I have a big grin on my face and hope that my sewing Mo Jo comes back to me soon too. He. He. Thankyou for sharing. Love Lolly Sth. Aust.
Winter Blues, they usually hit in Feb? LOL!
It is summer in Sarah's part of the world. So she needs another excuse..... not Winter Blues.
The whole of Southern Africa is having a heat wave at the moment so I think that may have something to do with it.
