Your grocery store skipped Valentines Day! Be careful if you purchase Easter Candy early. One year I purchase mini eggs and they were old, think they were the prev. year stock.
Hi Chris is it ok if I call you? if so when would it be good for you, hugs Heather
Sorry this was meant to go in your pm, I must have been having a pink moment, hugs Heather
I'm home till 8.45am this morning, I've got Ophelie and Delphi today!!!!!! Take them home about 4.30pm this arvo. Love Chris
Chris, I haven't noticed any. But then when I go into the shops it is for set items and it is head down and charge!
I do not like shopping so I try to get out of the store as quickly as possible.
DH does the grocery shopping.
I will keep my eyes open next time I go in for one item.
I do remember that last year they were out the first week of the new year and the shopping centre received lots of negative feedback about it.
YES and hot cross buns too!!!! It is almost sacrilege!
They were advertised in last weeks catalogues with back to school stuff.
Shops here in the UK have had Easter products on sale as early as Boxing day for many a year now so I'm sorry to say your comments come as no surprise.
BUT I did see, (and purchased as I could not resist as I just adore), Hot Cross Buns on sale at the beginning of DECEMBER!
I wonder how long it will be before all seasonal goods are on sale all year round?
WOW! I wouldn't want to eat one. I can't believe that the markets are so money hungry...

Yes, it upsets me for years now - regularly after Christmas heading for New Year German Super markets started selling the coloured Easter eggs but called them Party eggs. In fact, they are imported from China including probably a lot of chemistry - refuse to buy such things. But it became worse over the years - now they sell these kind of eggs the whole year through, i.e. they don't stop after Easter time
Only the consumers could stop this if they would stop buying food and things like that
You can't really blame the retail industry for trying to get as much money out of us as possible - it is their business after all. However, it is entirely our choice whether we let them get away with it!
Yes Chris I agree on merchandising going to far. Yesterday in the Sunday paper here in Pennsylvania I saw that Target stores were advertising summer swimwear!! Never mind that it is below freezing in our section of the country!! Now everyone should go buy a bathing suit or so they wish!! Hugs, Mary
My DH always guesses how early in January the ads will come out - he was right this year! He also guesses the winter coats timing - and in AZ it usually 100+ degrees F when it happens - go figure.
Even here in South Africa they started to unpack the eggs the week after Christmas. With our schools starting on Wednesday they probably making good sales as a lot of them goes into the lunch boxes. I saw a complaint as the prices are extremely high. But the Christmas items are currently on huge discounts with sell by dates only later in the year. (that is now chocolate items)
I stocked up on Christmas chocolates the day after, I will be able to get my daily fix for a while on the cheap.
PnP and Woolies have unpacked their eggs in our area. Can you believe it PnP asks almost R85 for 48 eggs - can not think that was the price last year. And yes our Woollies obviously has the leftovers from Christmas at 50% off (that was on Sunday - was not in the shops since then but normally they will go to 75%.by now.
Seems all they want is the money that is involved. You are so right.
we should all boycott this nonsence I refuse to buy anything for Easter until a Week prior I want fresh hugs
Your not wrong Chris, everything is about merchandise not the reason why we celebrate. Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate as far as the eye can see..
Absolutely ridiculous - no wonder the years pass so quickly!!! Although we can buy hot cross buns all year here - without the cross. Perhaps Chris, there will be Christmas decorations to buy soon, or better still they can leave them up all year!!! :) Hugs Sarah
What happened to Valentine's Day and St Patrick's Day? Here in the states , we have Presidents Day in there ,too. Every thing is so commercial now. Too bad! I did buy some Christmas holiday coffee in the clearance isle at my local grocery store! yea! World wide coffee is supposed to go up because of a drought. Start stocking up. Kay
I'm glad I'm a tea drinker Kay, although I do like a Skim milk half strength Cappuccino! Love Chris
Well Chris some shops on the North Coast had them before Christmas. Yes it is ridiculous. I just wish they would stock their shelves with the regular things we want to buy. Often when one goes to buy things they have been buying for years they are not there and the explanation is "we are not stocking that anymore because people weren't buying it."
Helen
Hi Helen our local Coles (port macquarie)had hot cross buns for sale ?????????????? hard to figure...soozie
the local one down here in Sydney also had them I thought I was seeing things..
Well I probably won't buy any baskets or grass....but I have to tell you I will be very tempted by a good chocolate bunny or some peeps!!! Darn you chocolate bunny, you've stolen my will power!!!!
On the other hand I can see buying the Easter craft stuff if I'm planning on making things for the kids.
I don't mind getting Easter craft things before Easter, but I don't like the idea of having Chocolate eggs etc. too early as I'm afraid the eggs would go white, which has happened before. Love Chris
Crazy! It is like trying to find a swimsuit in the summer. hehe! Suzanne
Yes I think they go over board here, I did my shop last Monday and the Easter eggs where there then , and hot cross buns in Coles NO way am I going to buy them , the power of one HA HA Have a good year L Sherene X
Wow Hot Cross buns too! I refuse to buy anything like that until the week before Easter. Love Chris
The stores don't care, it just money. We had Valentine candies and cards out before Christmas in our stores here..
Nothing means anything any more - it's all about the mighty dollar!
Wait, are we skipping Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day too this year? I surely don't want to skip any of the holidays and miss an opportunity to be a mass consumer. We should be back to Christmas by June at this rate.
Ah well Chris each unto its own
I do remember one year at Christmas seeing Easter eggs for sale when we were doing the Christmas food shop
Chris
DH went shopping yesterday & came home saying the same thing. can't believe it!!!!
Irene
Welcome to the world of mass merchandizing. I once saw a Hallmark card shop put out their Christmas ornaments on July 7, just after my birthday!
That is just unbelievable Grace! It's too long a period isn't it? Love Chris
