Looking at the picture enlarged the thread is not going through the guide at the top of the needle shank on the machine My machine does this if thread slips out of guide

I hope by now that this is fixed - I also think that something is wrong with the threading.

I think it has a lot to do with the thread I'm using, Jean xx

When my machines start doing this I figure it's time to clean out all the lint below, and check for any little stragglers of thread somewhere either above or below. Something is interfering somewhere. There may be just a tiny, tiny fragment of metal catching it. Hope you find the culprit!

My brother tech told me to try using an emory cloth on the needle plate and sure enough there was just the tiniest nick where the needle had hit the plate.... a little rubbing and it was fixed!

I agree! Time for a clean job.

It only came back from a service in November & I've hardly used it, I cleaned it out last week, there was quite a bit of cotton under where it cuts the thread. Thanks for you input, xx

I would say both top and bottom tension could need tweaking. But do rethread and try it again on scrap. Sometimes the thread just does not seat properly in the tension disks. Good luck.

I have also seen this...I am not sure what causes this to happen..but the only way to fix it is to cut the threads and re-thread...I have thought of sending a picture to BabyLock tech support to get their input, but haven't done it...it's wierd!

I wonder if it's the thread, xx

It looks to me as if the needle is not threaded properly, see how it is caught up! I would re-thread and see if that sorts it out. Love Chris

It was sewing ok, then it seemed to get caught up, I snipped the thread on the right & the needle was still threaded. Thanks for your input, xx

I sometimes have that happen. The only thing that seems to work to fix it on my machine is to stop and rethread everything.

Yes I re threaded & finished the design ok, xx

And I was taught upper tension is lower tension - rethread both if there is a problem.

I can't really tell from your picture but the old advice is: trouble on top, bobbin is trouble Trouble on bottom, top is trouble. You may just have to experiment a little. I'd change my needle and put on a different spool of thread on top use a scrap to try it out ( it is surprising to me that some thread just doesn't sew right! ) See how that does and then maybe wind a new bobbin andsee how that does..Good luck.

Thank you, xx

Oh dear! I was told just the opposite! I think that sometimes on my machine the top tension can cause problems on the top or bottom.
