While getting ready to leave to farewell a friend yesterday morning I needed to get something from the top cupboard of my wardrobe. I took in the step stool and stepped on the 1st step then the 2nd and it went from under me and I ended up on the floor. Hubby was in the dinning room and called quick come and see the 2 galahs on the wire outside the window. I said NO you come and see the other galah that is on the floor in the bedroom. I saw the funny side after he picked me up. I had a sore ankle all day and took my walking stick with me in case I needed it. To day I have 2 very sore big black bruises. One on each buttock. Hurts to sit LOL

Glad you just bruised your bums and your ego a little bit. Does it hurt to laugh today?

It is a great story to tell family members. it has given a few a laugh. I can still laugh about it and when I go into the bedroom I visualize the scene Hubby would have seen when he came in, and wished I had told him to bring the camera.

Hope your ankle is getting better .Did the foot stool slip?Conked my head on the metal framework of our built in wardrobe the other day because I forgot that I was standing on 2 step stool, when I went to clean the top shelf. So it seems no matter how careful we try to be,things still happen.
Galahs are a bird ,but the word also means being or doing something silly or stupid in Australian slang

Yes the foot stool did slip. not any more though, I will not be standing on it again.
Thanks for explaining the meaning of Galah being something stupid or silly in Australian slang. I didn't give it a thought that cuties outside of Australia would not know the meaning. Sorry to hear you conked your head. Hope it does not hurt too much. Hugs

I am glad that you did not break anything. Bruises will heal with time although very sore. My husband was not so lucky. He lost his balance back in June, fell and broke his hip. That healed with time. Then New Years Day he lost his balance again and broke his elbow. He is having surgery on that Monday. I hope that is the last fall for him. I have told him to slow down, there is no hurry. Joyce

I am so glad your doing ok. I fell last June and went to the dr. with a scraped knee that i got after washing the car i stepped off driveway wrong hit the dirt and immediately went inside and washed it out. However after 13 weeks under dr. care and no relief i was sent to a wound care center that doc said i had gangrene and was sent to hospital for emergency surgery. I had a wound vac for 2 months but it took 10 months to heal. the ground has way more toxins than when we were kids and i almost lost my leg to a simple scrape. Then contracted MRSA staff from hospital . Ladies be careful there are some buggar bear germs out there and if not satisfied with care from dr. find someone else quickly, another week and i may have lost my leg or life.

Sorry to hear about your mishap. So pleased every thing turned out well in the end. Yes we must keep a careful eye on things like that as we get older. Thanks for the heads up. Hugs Shirley

Some germs can start up an infection extremely fast.I got pricked by a fine cactus needle in the afternoon ,the next morning my finger was swollen ,luckily I was able to get a doctors appointment that afternoon. The doctor noticed the infection had tracked half way up to my elbow from just below the index finger, fingernail. All in just over 24hrs.

I really enjoyed reading this post and hope you are doing well. Did you get to see the birds? Sorry about your friend.

No I did not even think to go and see if they were still there. My bottom is still a little sore. The service for our dear friend was really lovely. About 480 people were at the church.

It is just so easy to do this sort of thing. Thank goodness you are all right with no breaks. I was painting our kitchen ceiling last year and I forgot I was standing on a ladder and just 'stepped' off. Also had a terribly bruised bottom!!!

Ouch! At least you know where your bruises come from. I am thinking of keeping a diary of bumps to figure out how long my bruises take to show.
Keep moving so that you don't go all stiff - that hurts more!

I just looked Galahs up, wow a very pretty pink bird comes from the parrot family. A lovely site I'm sure. Thanks for the education too Shirley.

shirley124 by shirley124 07 Jan 2015

They are a lovely bird. We don't see them here very often, that is why hubby was calling me to come and look.

Patricia109 by Patricia109 08 Jan 2015

Galahs are great birds! I grew up with one, then had another couple later on. They can live to 70 years of age in captivity. Our first one only lived to 35 or 36. She was a great friend.

Oh my, too scary! I am so grateful you were not hurt seriously. Sit on ice packs to help heal the bruises. I'm so glad your husband was nearby. I too am having to admit that I am aging. Keep your cell phone nearby in case you ever need it.

I will need to hang my mobile phone around my neck they way I am going. Trouble is that is likely to get broken in a fall and I would still be in a spot. he, he, he.

I am so sorry . I do totally understand as I have a stool in my walk in closet to retrieve items on shelves above my head, mostly purses. I realized if I fell ,it would be hours before anyone would find me If I were to break something and not be able to get up. I do not like to accept old age, but i am afraid it is coming!!! Kay

This is not the 1st time I have fallen with these particular steps, but I can assure you it will be the last. Old age eh! They call it the Golden Years. I think I blinked and missed them he, he, he.
