Our Plovers have just yesterday hatched their little chick. There were two eggs so I do not know what happened. This is the mother looking on at her day old chick. The father was trying to chase me away!! They are not helpless like baby birds normally are and run around soon after they hatch.

Deliteful to see wildlife close up.. If dad has a problem with you then maybe he should pick a better place to nest next season

The plovers around here are black & white with long legs.I don't think they have much luck in hatching their eggs because of where they decide to lay their eggs usually in front yards or near the footpath. They have attacked & chased us while walking our dogs ,who were on leads & didn't even take any notice of them..

They just lay their eggs in such silly places. They also hate my little dog

Reminds me of our Killdear's not as large as your plover, but nest on ground. Usually in pebbly sandy area.. Very voiceful if you get near. I believe they are related to the plover/Lillian

The baby is very cute and wants to see what I am doing much to the parents disgust

He/she is trying to explore the new world and they sound/act overly protective of the young wanderer.

Cute. No nest in trees I take. Now I will read up on them.

No nest - just sits and lays their eggs anywhere - usually under a tree
