I have done on the plastic kind. Did hummingbirds with one on each side
and my house number in the middle for my front door screen.

I got mine at lowes hardware in the department with all the screening for
doors section.

Yes I have done it using the fly screen wire from the hardware stores in Australia. The nylon mesh is the one to use and if you think that the design will fall through the holes, use organza on top. Doesn't need any special needle.

Yes, I've done it. It's called pet mesh here in Australia. I made beach bags, and they turned out really well. Red work designs are not really suitable, a fill design or satin stitched design works best. I just placed washaway stabiliser on the back and front, and hooped it all together.

Marian, our local sewing shop keeps pet mesh in various colours, I'll have to try and post some photos of the bags I made.

Haven't done it, but saw a sample of it at a John Deer embroidery workshop. I think it had a fly! But it's been awhile.

The leaves project I did a year ago was done on as many are saying here as cloth. It is actually fiberglass cloth in any home builder store or hardware. I spray painted it and let it dry before I laid in hoop. http://www.cuteembroidery.com/939...

Yes I have done this. But I didn't use wire (metal) I use a nylon fly screen and it turned out perfect. Almost like embroidering on Tulle for a Bridal Vail.
Apparently you can also embroidered on Balsa Wood but value my machine too much to try that one. Can't afford to replace it.

Scroll down the projects page to see a tutorial on a hat and vest made with the fiberglass screening, I certainly would not try to embroider on metal screening. Maybe by hand, haha.

I've done some on the non-metal kind often called pet screen which c
comes in colors. I was surprised that they turned out so easily. I followed the instructions and have saved my samples. I still haven't made my intended beach bag. The black roll of screening is still standing in the closet waiting its turn. Enjoy!

Lol, I have a roll waiting to be embroidered and made into picnic food covers. Maybe before next summer?

Ha! Bugs or flowers? Me, too, maybe next summer. :)

I'm not sure I would embroider on screen wire. There is a cloth screening that many have embroidered on with great results. The cloth screening makes great beach bags. You can find it in many hardware stores.
