Sewing question : I have been wondering a long time about the purpose for all those feeth I have with my sewing machine. Some cleared out via Internet, some I really don't know their purpose. Any help out there ? (I have a Brother Innovis 1500 in case that helps ?)

The second picture are the same ones, but from their side.

I had a shallow drawer and the plastic trays were too big. I used plastic ice cube trays. Each hole labeled by the ID of the foot. It is easier to find the one you did not put away, if you know which one is missing.

I have just today put mine in a clear plastic box with lots of separate sections and put a label on every section what they are for. Marvellous. Saw this on Pinterest. googled the ones I did no know what they were for.

thanks I'm labeling them somehow too. Its now so nice to know their use. Most of the time I used the normal foot, now things are done much easier

Foot R is the blind hem foot...Foot G is the overcasting foot...Foot N is a "Monogram" foot for heirloom and decorative stitches...also for use with a wing needle...also for use with a twin needle...The J foot they call the "Zig Zag" foot...but it is the one that comes on the machine for universal sewing...

Ok let me see if I can help, the first one, I will have to come back you on not with my machine at the moment but I think it is for binding might be wrong N foot is for ease of sewing to see your stitches better G foot, third one, is for overlocking raw edges and J foot for normal sewing hope this helps, when I get back home will look in the manual and confirm with you

The foot that is top picture but bottom left looks like a "stitch in the ditch" foot.
The one with the black thing on the side allows you to go over large seams (like with denim jeans) without the foot tipping. Push that button and the foot stays flat.
Top right is the "clear view" foot for decorative stitches and other stitches where you need to see the stitch as it happens.
Top left looks like a "blind stitch" foot

Hi there,

I have the Brother Innovis nv 400.
Hope this helps
The presser foot "J" is a piecing foot
Presser foot "G" is the overcasting stich - looks like a zig zag stitch
Presser foot "N" is a monogramming foot - embroidery foot I take it
Presser foot "R" is a blind hem stitch

Enjoy your machine.

Regards
Nicky

If you have your user manual it should tell you what each is. I have a large collection of feet from machines I no longer own and have no idea what they are all used for or the reason I still have them.

There are little letters on each of the brother feet - on the top of them. Perhaps you could put the letters in the post (bit difficult to see the letter in the picture). Then I am sure folks will be along with the details about each.
