If I turn my back on it, it acts like a 2 year old and "demands" my attention. I think it has a mind of it's own.......
Mine does naughty things while I am sitting watching it work! If I leave the room, I come back to find a perfect piece of embroidery. It's other bits of equipment that try my patience! Yesterday, I filled the dishwasher and got it going, but heard a funny clicking sound, so turned it off quick and put a note on the door saying it needed checking! When my son came home, he asked me to describe the noise, I must have sounded a right idiot trying to do that! Then he showed me what the problem was, a plastic bag clip was throwing itself about! He looked at me with pity in his eyes !!!
To jeanfoz, glad that made you laugh! Clicked on your name and noticed you live in North Devon! So did I until three years ago Pity I didn't know you then, could have done with someone to share my hobby with! I lived in Halwill, now live with my youngest son in Uxbridge, Mddx.
To Caroline, I do think my youngest has got some doubts as to my sanity at times! But when I'm not sure about something to do with the computer, he says "You can do it Mum, you're not daft! " kids !! At the moment I am working flat out, my eldest granddaughter has decided to put my work up on her website, she makes, and sells rather a lot, of bracelets and necklaces with the dreamcatcher theme, so she asked me to think about making embroidered wall art hoops, as they are apparently making a comeback , so that's what I am doing, and really enjoying myself as well!
She's put one up today as a taster, the rest go up tomorrow, so just like Del Boy in Fools and Horses, this time next year, I'll be a millionaire !!! I hope !!!
Some of the answers are hilarious! Thanks for the laugh.
My old machine used to do that regularly but with my latest machine it seems to behave itself, although I am always close at hand. Hope you did not do too much damage Caroline.
Welllllllllllllllllll i pray over mine and that works well for me hugs Carolyn
The gremlins are watching for you to not pay attention and when you're not, they zap your machine. Terrible things happen then. LOL I think they live in the ceiling at my house.
My Embroidery Club teacher told us that she uses a Baby Monitor when she needs to leave the room.
So she is never out of reach of hearing when the sound of the machine changes for a problem or the buzzer alarm goes off.
If she didn't use the monitor then she would never get anything done as she is always stitching out designs for her classes.
I have no need of a monitor as I am in the (small) room while the machine stitches
Think of it as a two year old throwing a tantrum to get your love and attention back. It doesn't know how to behave without you.
They get lonely if we leave them alone for a few moments!
I had literally moved my eyes away to look at the laptop by my side which is next to the machine
Yep... been there done that. I stepped out of the room and #**!!!^>>!!! burnt out the motor as the machine jammed, I am sure my 2 machines have eyes and wait till i turn my back on them , They love to be the centre of attention and be watched at all times. 8)
the revenge of the sewing fairy because we do not pay enough attention lol
Ouch! Bad machine! But we still love them even when we want to take them to pieces.
Guess it just figured you weren't paying it enough attentoin! lol
Because when the cat's away the mice will play. I left my mess last night, said tomorrow's another day (I love Scarlett), and fixed everything this morning. Don't you just love the challenge -- now I know 10,000 ways to fix this machine...... hahaha
If you know so many ways to fix a machine I suggest that you write about it so we have a manual to help us
Because it can...now you see why I made me an embroidery angel... :-(
Think I need a flock of them, no I think its called a host of angels
Happens to all of us. I think our machines get loney when we are not there. Suzanne
No I am sitting by it but turned my head away to look at my laptop... and cccccccrruncccccch
All part of life's rich tapestry! Could you retrieve the embroidery?
