That is an excellent way of fixing the problem!! Congratulations on your new Pick up.
LOL You really sound like you know everything about fixing trucks. Never will for get, I've always HATED taking vehicles to be worked on. Hubby said he couldn't take off work and I could so I always had to do it. He sent me one time to have a new water pump put on a Pontiac, the Dealer was out of town the job was going to take 5 hrs. , No loaner, to make a long story short I went home with a brand spanking new Pontiac. Hubby never sent me to have a vehicle worked on again . LOL This was way back in 1982/Lillian
Your story reinforces my thoughts of leaving repairs to the pros; usually less costly in the long run.
Hubby's car has heated and cooled seats along with heated steering wheel and memory controlled seats. Would love to have ANY of these options in my next vehicle. But everyone knows you can't stop a Ford F150 so hubby likely will have another new car before me. (P.S. It's 14-years-old and has never skipped a beat.)
I totally understand. Brought the machine for repair and ....................
Congratulations on the new acquisition Jim is the best fixer. This story made my day start with a smile..
Congratulations on the new truck...where's the photos? When I got my first brand new car, almost 2 years ago, I had to post photos. (I am in my 60's). We had bought only 1 other brand vehicle,a new truck, before that. My husband is very handy, mechanic, carpentering, or plumbing. We own 3 Toyotas and a Honda, at the moment. ( Our insurance company loves us-lol) He has a very old Toyota 4x4 he uses for hunting. He and my son just overhauled the motor. When they finished it wouldn't crank/start. My husband said it was hard to crank/start last year, before they changed the motor. The timing was set correctly, and the motor they overhauled was a different motor my son had, so they figured it wasn't in the motor, must be the starter. So they took the starter off and took it back to the part place, since it was a lifetime warranty. The place put it on their machine, said it was still good, but did give him another starter. Came home, put it on and low and behold, it starts! He will hunt another year, whether he will get anything remains to be seen-lol-I think he goes for the hunt/ comradship.-lol- Oh, and 8 years ago, he tried to pull what your husband did. He was looking at brand new Toyota 4x4's (you can't find good used Toyota 4x4, they last that good and people just don't get rid of them). I just couldn't get over the sticker shock, to put it in the woods, to get all scratched up and wheels in all that mud. Well, I found his cousin had one 4x4 Toyota extended cab with 50,000 miles and would probally sell it. (We were at a family funeral and they were from another state, leaving right after the funeral.) My husband was lining up to be a pall bearer, I went and told him about Bob's truck and the next week, we drove there and bought it! 8 years later he is still hunting in the old truck he just overhauled and 'saves' his good one..... Our kids joke with him. He had to put a set of new tires on the newer truck, last year. He complained because they hardly had any miles on the tires, 'cause Bob had just changed them before we bought it. The kids said because he hardly uses it, they must have dry rotted-LOl LOL- I drive my old Toyota car to work 8 miles round trip, a day and 'save' my 2012 Honda. The Honda place contacted us and wanted to buy back our car. They said they needed newer, used cars with low milage.-lol- Your Nissan should last you. My daughter had a couple Nissans and I know others that have had good service from them. Is it a 4 wheel drive, too? Good luck with it-Toogie
Heated seats are my #1 requirement after getting a car with them! Forget the sun roof...give me a warm bottom & lower back! congrats!
Friend rented a car to drive to Florida. Complained he would never buy a ? (can't remember the make) car. He complained it was too hot. Later realized the whole trip in the summer he had the seat warmer on.
It's interesting, the process by which we make important decisions.
Whew, am so glad your Toyota is fixed, what a drag when they are broken beyond repair. Reminds me of the time mine went out for a stereo switch and came home with a new car...'oh but honey I got the new stereo switch; it just came attached to this car. :-O
I think Jim did a great job fixing the truck. I'm sorry it was such a hot and sweaty job to do it. Congrats on the new baby in your family and pats on the back for Jim and for you. That was a long and hard job, but it is done.
