I need advice from those that know the proper place to emb on a hankie. This is for a ladys grandaughter, getting married. First, she wanted the girls' inital K. Then she said, maybe both their names Kassidy and Logan and the wedding date underneath.(when it is folded up, I don't know how all that writing would look) Finally she said what ever I thought it was suppose to be.....My daughter (used to work at a monogramming shop) said if she wants the date then just do the new last name inital with the date underneath. I haven't suggested to the lady yet. I wanted your opinions. I think she really wanted the K or Kassidys name. Also, this hankie has a lot of flowers emb on it already, it doesn't leave much room for anything folded up. Do you place the K at an angel, between the center fold and the already stitched flowers? What kind, and how much stabilizer to use? Hankie is very thin. She purchased it at bumblebeelinens.com, maybe you could see it better there. Click on Wedding hankie-click on White Embroidery- then click White tulip and Daisy hankie.$7.99- ....I am thinking either the last new intial and date or if she wants the girls intial, just that, so when it is folded it will look better. Tell me what you think, please????????????????????????? Also, I don't know what kind of font. I don't have too many for this, but she liked the Ribbon font from the mad woman of lockstreet, I just dl. She said the girl likes heirloom, but when I show the lady a filagee type K, she didn't like it.

The monogram on a wedding handkerchief is typically done in the corner at an angle so that if the corner were pointing at you, the monogram would be aligned in that direction also. It goes about 2" up or you can go a bit further if what you are monogramming is going to come too close to the edges. Ignore the print on the handkerchief. On this thin material I would probably use 2 layers of tearaway or a very thick tear away and a WSS, pinning very carefully around where the monogram will go.
Look around at the ones on the lace shop and see what you like.

I stitched it already, but thank you. I wish she wouldn't have bought this one with all the flowers. I had to put my stitching too high, in order not to run into them. I am not pleased but maybe she will be....hope so.

If grandma wants her first initial, do that. I agree that your center space is your best option. If you add the date I'd keep it simple, like 12.25.14
Hope it is a beautiful wedding.

That's just it, I don't think grandma knows what she wants...Yes, I did the date simple like this.

I'd do the bride's nw monogram--new last initial in the center, just a tad larger than her first name intial on the left and maiden name initial on the right--ie kTm ad the date underneith ,probably the same size as the small initials.
If you can find a similar weight fabric be sure to do a practice one. I have done quite a few hankies and sometimes the small stitching has too many stitches packed in and comes out sort of "gloppy" looking.
Good luck, I'm sure it will be beautiful.

It would have to be a small font, with all these flowers going on. That is an idea. I don't know her madien or new last name, but I could find out. You didn't say what and how many stablizers you use.

I can't tell you the brand but it is a tearaway/washaway and I put one piece on the crossways and the next on the lengthwise. Solvy or some such on top. When finished just swish in warm water and lay flat to dry then use some Mary Ellen Best Press if you have it to finish off nicely.

Right, I used 2 layers WSS like you said, stitched perfectly and ironed well too. Thanks!
