8-29-14 Okay, FREE STANDING LACE. Many of you have not tried this yet. I didn't for over three years, saying, people who stitch THAT have way too much time on their hands. Then I finally said, well, I have all these lovely designs... Ladies, if you try it once, you will be stitching FSL out at every spare moment! It is addictive. It is fun to watch stitch out. And it makes lovely gifts for Christmas, birthday, cancer patients, friends... earrings for teens (who are in general hard to gift!).

All that being said, if you get one that really doesn't stitch out well, trash the file. Some people put it out there that are just beginning to understand the concept of tying the design to itself over and over. Start with a nice tavernmaker.de design to see what I mean, and read her very thorough instructions, too, first. Have a blast.

I procrastinated for a long time too. Finally tried it and it's so fun. I started with Sonia Showalter's designs. They turned out so beautiful. Now I can't seem to stop. Love it. Someday I might try a village.

I love FSL as it is the easiest thing to do, especially as the (well digitised) designs have no stops or jumps; just start the machine and that's it.
But you are right, there are beginners' designs that are called FSL and look like it, but can only be stitched on organza as they would otherwise fall apart. Quality counts, especially in lace designs.

I must tell you all a cute story. I first tried FSL angels, just a couple, to see how I liked it. (Yes!) Then my husband saw them......I stitched several last year for our Christmas tree and to send in cards. My dear husband is now saying... "Don't you think you should start stitching some more FSL ? Christmas is just around the corner you know." He is hooked, keeps telling everyone how I stitch out lace. It is too funny!
Hugs, Nadyne

I was hooked the first time I tried FSL and haven't stopped since. And my house shows how addicted I am to FSL.

start small, don't choose a entire Christmas village as your first project. And if you mess up don't get discouraged, try again until you get it right. I love fsl
