I think I need one of these... awesome job!
Linda
I hope to see more of these done as a lot of you want to to do one and they are really easy. Love Chris
Fabulous Chris. will have to look to make one too lol. Love your colours and embroidery designs too.
Thanks Edith, the Bunnycup Embroidery designs were just perfect for this project. Love Chris
Chris, I just love your sewing machine caddy. So useful in the sewing room and the embroidery adds such a nice touch. I will definitely have to make one for myself.
I love it, I'll have to put one on my "to do" list!
Thanks for the wonderful comments ladies, I'm in a bit of a hurry today - off to the vet's with Mum's dog at 8.45am and then I'm singing at a dear old friend's funeral at 11.00am - she was 95! (giving up Italian lessons today to attend the funeral). Then off to the Op Shop to help Mum and the other ladies out. I'll post individual answers later. Have a wonderful day everyone. Love Chris
Well done Chris. Guess I'll have to break down and make myself one I like yours so well. Love that fabric that friend Meg gave you guys
Hi darlin' - yes I think you will. I'd love to do another one in black and white with a splash of red, what do you reckon? Love Chris
That looks great Chris! It will come in very handy too!
Chris, it looks so handy. I need to make one. Thanks for posting pictures.
Wow, I love the caddy! Thanks to Meganne for posting directions! Its on my ToDo list. That would be very useful to have one. Thanks for showing it off, Chris! ***Hugs and Flowers to all***
Thanks so much for the compliment and yes, Meg's directions are wonderful. Love Chris
well done Chris ! With all that fun you were having you did very well to finish it! ~hugs~
I didn't even get to do mine! I watched as Pauline made hers and just wanted to add the embroidered designs, plus the bias binding on the top pockets. Love Chris
Nice one, Chris...I need to make one of these for myself, too!
Looks fabulous Chris, I love your choice of designs.
I knew I'd be the last to get one done but I do have a good excuse as you know, with losing Saturday to a disastrous day of embroidering and Sunday was spent tenpin bowling from 9 am 'til 5 PM in our Northern Country Challenge League.
We bowled 7, five man team matches, and I won 4 of the 6 games I actually bowled. It is such a long day but a day full of fun and laughter with friends I have known for over 20 years.
Maybe I'll find time to do mine this week??? :-)
Hugs n love, me
Hopefully I can come down this week for your birthday - maybe Friday! I'll let you know later. Hey, girlfriend, great news on the bowling day and bad luck about the disastrous day with the sewing. Love Chris
It just goes to show that no matter how much you pay for an embroidery machine, they still play up!!! aaaargh!
Wow Chris same fabrics as mine and Megs but totally different. Amazing what embroidery does. And i do love the bias. Mine looks very plain. Think i might unpick and start again . Great Job :)
No? Sue should i just leave as is ? It is interesting to see when you are all given the same fabrics , just the different styles created. Cant wait to see what Meg comes up with :)
I shall leave mine as is :)
But that is part of the fun that with the same designs and fabrics that the end results are different. Pauline your interpretation is yours and yours alone, just as Chris and Meganne have produced something unique too
Thanks Pauline, I just wanted to add the Bias as I told you on Friday it gives a stronger finish to the top area. As you are putting and pulling your hand in and out so many times it will wear. Love Chris
Lovely work Chris ad well done for completing
Thanks Caroline, I started it on Saturday morning and had a song practice for a funeral later in the day and then finished it yesterday after church. Love Chris
looks great, I suppose I will have to make something like this ...one day.... when i take the time to make it.....But good work; great !!
Gerry they are so quick to make if you don't embroider them.
We just cut two pieces of fabric 23" square
one piece of wadding 23" x 11" to insert into the top section where the machine sits
a piece of contrast fabric 23" x 11" folded over lengthwise making a strip 5 & 1/2 inches by 23" (for the pocket section)
one piece of wadding 23" by 5 & 1/2 inches to stiffen the pocket section
Step one, prepare the pocket section by folding over lengthwise, marking where you want the pockets.
Insert the wadding and stitch it onto the right side of the main front piece at the place where you marked the pockets.
Turn the front over to the wrong side and pin the (23x11") machine base wadding to the wrong side.
With the main front right side facing you, pin the backing to the front, right sides together and stitch a 1/2 " seam all the way around the whole square Leaving a four to six inch opening in one side, (between where the machine base lining ends and the top of where the pocket section starts).
Turn organiser right side out, finish off the opening then run a topstitch, 1/2 inch from the edge, all the way around.
Sounds more complicated than it is but I can tell you, once you have a sewing organiser under your machine, you will wonder how you ever lived without it.
hugs n love, Meganne
Thanks Meg for the measurements and instructions, making it so much easier to get started. You know what I have for my serger? Here in the USA some curtain panels or sheet sets come in a zippered clear plastic or vinyl. I have my front feet sitting on the flap and the plastic makes it easier to get the trims from threads/fabrics out, to empty. I thought this clear stuff would be work on the front of your cover and on the inside pockets, what do you think? Chris your organizer came out GREAT.
OH Toogie that is so clever of you, I have never thought to use those plastic bag thingies.
I think plastic would be great as a pocket lining but it is such a pain to sew and I couldn't imagine embroidering on it.
I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with. hugs n love, Meg
Nice work Chris! I made one of these last year and it is so useful.
What a great idea Chris, I will have to make myself one. Thank you for posting it.
Hugs Jerri
Forgot to mention the first design of the sewing machine is from Smart Needle and the other 3 designs are from Bunnycup and the set is on sale at the moment 12 designs for $10.00 and in two sizes. I'm a bit disappointed with the sewing machine from Smart Needle as it missed a bit of edging near the top and lower section under the needle, never mind, maybe the design moved, I'm not sure if it was knocked or not. The Bunnycup designs stitched out beautifully. Love Chris
