8/8/14 Try #seventy something at cleaning the sewing room - last two days. Mostly, I've inhaled a lot of dust and found places the mouse has been since I have last been! Cones are reorganized and spares are boxed away from light. Don't like for anyone to suggest that I'm a hoarder, but I do seem to have more than my share of beautiful batiks, and they are now arranged nicely in groups for stitching up into totes and other projects. Where do all those things come from? I even found some yarns that I "knew" I had last winter and couldn't find, so back to knitting. And I have a nice little stack of semi-fat semi-quarters redeemed from all cotton shirts with my rotary cutter. I've spent the day feeding my machine 8gb storage to format, as it's very slow and doesn't really like anything that big. They're all done, so my reward tonight is loading some new designs on sticks for stitching out tomorrow! Oh, and I vacuumed while the floor was in sight! So proud. I don't get in this mood often, have to go with it when it hits! How's your sewing space? (Don't need to hear from the ladies with wonderful new cabinets and shelving, I'm still making do here...)

I'm just happy to have a room for my sewing machine to call home...never mind all the clutter and junk, that goes along with it! I've sorted and combined and still am not done. It is getting there, as one lady stated yard work comes first at this time of year. :-( Congrats on a job well done.

Yard work is over for me the first day it hits 97 degrees. So, now I'm stitching.

Hi Betsey, I actually totally cleaned out my sewing room two weeks ago and gave away 2 large garbage bags full of fabric. I took them to my Sewing Guild on Thursday and donated them all to our ladies. I particularly wanted the bulk of it to go to 2 ladies who make quilts all the time for "Jenny's Place" a refuge for homeless/battered women. It went in a flash! I took another large bag down to my Op Shop and let the ladies sort them out there. I now have only 15 little plastic baskets sitting in my fabric cupboard on my sewing room wall all neatly filed in alphabetical colours - of course!!!! I even cleaned out the wall to wall cupboards on the back wall and so everything is neat and tidy and in its place. I felt great once it was done. Then I started sewing and of course there are threads out, scissors all over the place, the ironing board is still up and I seem to have adopted a baby car seat from the back bedroom! And I have a master bedroom suite for my sewing room and I still would like it bigger!!! Oh! well, we can't have everything, I'm being greedy - it serves my purposes very well. So glad you have done all of yours too, love Chris

You make me ashamed. I have barely gotten my stuff put away with the move. It still needs to be tweaked (a lot).

I give you permission to not worry about it the first year! Especially this year!

I cleaned out one small drawer today and read all the posts. I had been busy with yard work and I have too much to do.

Isn't this the truth...and it multiplies faster than I can work. :-)

Congratulations with your achievements. A mega sort and tidy up is needed in my sewing room, last week I trod on a hidden plate which cut my foot as it broke. If you fancy a trip to the UK to assist with sorting a sewing room now you have the experience you are very welcome to come and assist

I'm impressed! I've just (almost) organised my sewing room using furniture not required in other rooms in our new house. It would have been wonderful to have new stuff!

I used to kid myself that the sewing room was also a guest room There's a bed under everything, but it hasn't been slept in in at least three years.
