Congratulations!!
Funny celebrating the breaking down of a machine :-)
Haven't done that...taking a couple of classes in August to show me the ropes!
Good for you! I now have the enlighten (4 thread) with the jet air and it also has the wave stitch. I would never have spent the money on this at the time (xmas last year), but we were at the dealers and my hubby was watching the demo and insisted I had to have it. At first I said no as my serger was not all that used even though I've had it for about 10 yrs. - needless to say, I ended up with it and LOVE it. I have used it more in the year and a half I've had it than I used the other one in 10 yrs.! I love the air threading and I have used the wave stitch many times and it givess a beautiful finish to a hem!
If they had done a demo with the 8 thread evolution - he might have decided on that one - but I'm great with this and you are going to have fun with yours!
Thanks...I am so happy about the air threading, too...wow, how great is that!
As Lawrence Welk use to say "wunnerful, wunnerful" Happy for you, My Babylock serger is around 20 yrs. old now. It's so "moody" I seldom get it out anymore . I look longinly at the new ones but they are waaaay out of my reach. Congratulations to you/Lillian
Thank you...perhaps all your oldie but goodie needs is a little TLC and a tune up...get it out...
I have an Evolve 8 thread, so much to learn but it sews like a dream. I need to utilize it more. Have fun!
Nice...I am set up to take some classes in August...still pondering which feet (if any) I need to get...any thoughts?
I have to admit that I have not waited for my 3 thread serger to fall apart. I recently bought a 4 thread one and am giving the 3 threader to my daughter who is delighted at the prospect of her 'new' machine.
I found this yesterday in a 1973 McCalls magazine I came across while looking for something else.I had one of these ,but it seems ancient in design to what the new ones are now.
Wow...that is an oldie...and it weighs "only 24 pounds"...glad they have made some improvements!
LOL, Kim and congrats on the new machine!!!! I can hear you smiling!
You won the world championship of turning bad into good!
Congratulations and so glad for you - probably we will see some projects soon :-) Maria
Sooo excited! Can't wait to get to know how to use it fully so I can get started on some projects!
Oh My i am happy for you and i will join you on the dance floor hugs
They are a lovely overlocker.Mine is about 3yrs old & it came with a DVD demonstrating the threading for all the different stitches it does as well as what the different feet do.I bought the clear foot so I could see the fabric better as it went went through the machine.
I got my first babylock overlocker in the 70's & gave it to my stepdaughter when the stretch fabrics came because it didn't sew them very well.
Nice...unfortunately, I did not get a DVD...still looking at feet..thanks for the information...I will have to find out about the DVD though...
You can find many sewing and serger video tutorials at videos.wpt.org they are excellent for learning old and new techniques with Nancy Zieman.
I'm jealous! I gave mine to son and dil to sell in a yard sale. It was such a burden to thread and then get to run correctly that I finally put it in the closet so I wouldn't have to look at it, but now it's gone! I will be hoping for and saving for a new one that isn't so persnickity.
Hoping you get your pennies saved soon...I never thought I would use a serger until I had one...now I can't imagine not having one....
You are going to have so much fun! I have a Babylock Evolve with 8 threads. You are going to amazed with all you can do with your new baby. It will be worth the 150 mile round trip to get some lessons. PM me and tell me where you are located. If you are near me, you have a free B and B to stay at while getting lessons.
So happy for you, when you get tired of playing there will be a lot of work you will dooooooooooo!
Conrats!!! I have one also .Simply love it!! Love the threading too. I had the same thing...... My very old Bernina died... I have all baby locks machines now and love love love them all. You are going to be so happy.Suzanne
Thanks, Suzanne..wish you were close enough to teach me how to use it!! I love my Baby Lock Ellisimo and I am sure this new Evolution won't disappoint!
You'll have to tell us all the magical things it does, so sorry to hear about your old faithful but they all have to go sometime.. Marian
It is magic...yesterday, I just kept cutting the looper threads so I could watch the magic happen at the push of the button....woooosh....they are all threaded...pure magic!
8 threads? oh my! I have a manual thread 4-thread overlocker a--nd I hate rethreading if the underlooper thread breaks .. how many do you have under there? Thankfully they auto-thread for you :)
I know...8 threads! There are three loopers..I think...will have to read a bit more to be sure...
Three? Oh my! I'd go nuts manually threading those, but thankfully you don't have to :) I forgot to congratulate you on your new baby - how rude of me .. so.. CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS! :) xXx
Oh dear - mine is older than that - I am too frightened to have it serviced!!! Enjoy your wonderful new machine.
Oh, Sarah...I know...I didn't get my old one serviced for 26 years....seems like after I had it serviced...the timing went wacko...
Congratulations and enjoy! The self threading is an absolute treaure. It takes me at least an hour to get the thread through my serger's loops, and one of my heart's desires is to get a self threading serger...
Thanks...the self threading is unbelieveable...just put a little end in the slot..push the button and woooosh...it's done!
Congratulations Kim, what a wonderful Overlocker and self threading to boot! Hope you are somewhere close by to have lessons. Love Crhis
Thanks, Chris...I am loving the self-threading...it is a primary reason for getting a Baby Lock...although, I love my BL Ellisimo...fantastic machines! Lessons may be a challenge..closest store is 75 miles from me...but things will work out!
Dragonflyer, I wondered why my computer was jumping around all over the desk and it's you inside here!!!! You could have at least warned me and I would have tied the thing down. I'm so sorry you are this upset over the death of your serger, it had a long successful life you really mustn't be too sad...Happy dancing is for the NEW Baby Lock!?! Okay I'll buy that, 8 threads and threads itself by magic and fairy dust...waaaaaay to cool. Congrats on the new toy. :P LOL
Lea - hahaha! You are funny and sweet. love the imagination of your computer jumping around .... you should write books for children having such magic imagination where things come to life.
I am so happy for you! I am sure you will be burning the midnight oil playing with your new machine. Happy stitching!
I got a Baby Lock Imagine - love it!!! Still have so much to learn about it!! Oh, you will be able to make lots of ruffles for your nieces!!!! You certainly deserve it - enjoy!!! Hugs, Laura*
Thanks, Laura...I am a bit overwhelmed...not sure what I will do with the extra 4 threads! It does both the chain stitch and the cover stitch, too...
Congratulations! I wish we had a serger class, so far I just use mine for seams. Yours sounds like a dream come true!
Thank you...I can't even imagine all of the things it is suppose to do...
I get to be the first to congratulate you! Whoo hoo! You will be stitching out stuff quicker than usual! Wow!
