This is the 1st cross stitch design I have ever done. I choose a simple baby bottle for my first one. Is this how it is suppose to look? I kinda like it lol

Cross stitch is by far the easiest and fastest thing to do - opening the module takes almost more time than doing a simple design - the method is that simple, but it can give the most boring results as there are no such things as stitch direction and fillings that bring life to other designs. Its success totally depends on shape and colour.
As far as shape goes, symmetry can easily be achieved in 5D and 6D by using their multiply function in the cross stitch module, you'll find it in the bottom right corner (picture 1 and how to set it up picture 2); extremely useful when doing snowflakes, stars and stylised flowers when using both vertical and horizontal symmetry plus rotate together (picture 3). You can move the axes of symmetry so they go through the middle of a cross stitch or between two. For the bottle and cap you use only the vertical blue line, in the centre of a cross as you have an odd number of crosses.(picture 4).
The use of a light grey line as shading, one cross stitch wide, can change the look of a flat rectangle into a convex bottle. Uncheck use multiply or you get a line either side. A few (out)lines may add interest as well.
I agree with Chris, look at a few examples to see what other cross stitch designs look like, what makes them interesting and which effects you would want to use yourself.

I think you should be a salesman for 6D
software...Every time you post a helpful hint, I find my self looking at the upgrade programs... lol I don't have the cross stitch on my 6 d extra. By the time I get the money together for it, they will have 7D... I did use my Digitize n Stitch from Amazing Designs.

You once said you had everything except the DesignCreator module, so I presumed you used 6D. Never mind.
I have no connection to 6D other than I bought and use it. :)

I have 6d extra and Digitize n Stitch (by Amazing Designs)

I looked up Digitise and Stitch and read the features. Too bad the cross stitch is also auto-digitised and you can't add or remove stitches, let alone draw something free hand. So you need really good graphics to start with.
Sorry that my answer assumed a cross stitch module like the 6D or the equally nice Embird one.

Dear Linda,

Well done for your first effort. If you could add an outline stitch to define it that would give it more definition. Love Chris

Good job. How hard would it be to go back and add "Baby" or a name to customize? Would make a cute bib!
