I never like to laugh at someone...with them yes.

However, my husband thought he had purchased very expensive software for me to digitize with...he is right this minute trying to use the trial versions to digitize a design he wanted me to do with my VERY basic software that came with my 1st embroidery machine -- but could not easily do what he wanted done.
I may have to laugh out loud very soon! He cannot figure out why it looks terrible if he auto-stitches it.
Now, he wants to know which software is best...I may get him to buy digitizing software after all. LOL

Does it count if I laugh WITH you AT him?
Please, don't let him stop until it's perfect. Want to send it to me for a stitch out? hahahaha

Yes, it totally counts! Thank you!
I will let you know when he is finished pulling his hair out -- so I can send the file to you.
LOL

Some years ago I owned a fabric store and several men came in to inquire about buying a sewing machine for their wives. I did not sell machines but I tactfully talked them out of doing that. Ladies...would YOU want your husband to surprise you with a sewing machine??

Yes, but only because I know he has the brochure and the local shops all know what I want... so I think I am pretty safe. ;)

Too much...if he really wants to see how "bad" it really is...you should stitch it out!

LOL I have done that in the past for him. I think he has a short term memory issue. ;)

Sometimes I am absolutely amazed at how "challenged" my DH is in some ways! He is amazing in his field - but some of the simple things I consider just plain easy, he turns into a huge project. Like refilling the soap dispenser in our sink. He got down under there with wrenches and struggled to take it all apart and refilled the liquid soap. When he announced he had it filled, I had a really difficult time not laughing when I showed him it could be easily filled from the top of the sink. He really is brilliant in mathematics! He has a huge heart and I love him dearly.

You are so kind not to laugh. I think it was quite nice of him to go to all that effort just to refill the soap. You are a lucky woman! It must also be entertaining living with him at times.

Dennis, have you had your hearing instruments checked recently. Perhaps you are missing hearing all the cheers for the oppressed?

I was a computer consultant for years, and started programming at school. But computers were expensive, and I did not have one even when I got married. So, for our first Christmas together, my then hubby went out and bought me a PC to work on. He was so proud, because the thing allowed you to do programming in Basic. I did not use Basic at all.

The languages I programmed in were too complex for this little PC's operating system, so it was quite useless to me. He did not realize that and I did not have the heart to tell him he bought a piece of junk....

In the end I did manage to work out how to type letters on the PC.

Hope your new software is usable! LOL

I am sure the software will be usable IF he actually decides to spend money on this. LOL

This is what we women do. although I may tell him at some point.

anssmile by anssmile 11 Apr 2014

We have divorced since... And I gave the PC away about 10 years after he gave it to me. I had a proper PC with enough memory by then.

Perhaps I can help you put him out of his misery and digitise the design for you????

.... then you can tell him I have been digitising for about five years and still consider myself a beginner. LOL!!!!

rescuer by rescuer 09 Apr 2014

Thank you -- that is very generous of you!
I must wait until he brings me a usable file though. The one he gave me was pixelated and I showed him it was unusable. It is one of the reasons he was impatient and tried to do it himself. LOL
I have tried to explain one cannot just jump in and expect to digitize well in a short time. I will let him know a very kind "beginner" with digitizing software has offered to help.

Ha, ha. Just because one understands computers, programming, software and the like one still has to understand how embroidery comes together and why. I can't wait to hear the outcome on this. Priceless

That is quite the compliment! Thank you. ;)
He quit trying after only an hour. He is a computer geek so it should be easy -- right? Nah. It is very hard to learn to digitize well AND it takes a lot of time to do a good job too.
Kudos to all the wonderful digitizers we have here on Cute
