Guess what we got today????? A brand new school bus with AIR CONDITIONING, HOORAY!!!!!!!!! It was over 100 degrees, when school started this year, and we have been driving with NO AIR, for over 20 years. We have special needs kids too.-The reason-My bus driver owned her own bus.The school board has a contract with a bus service and they have slowly weeded out the privately owned busses, but she didn't want to use theirs. She gets more pay to use her own.She is retiring in 22 months and wanted to drive hers, until then. The kids would be so hot this summer, I would bring a small ice chest with something called 'Florida Water' and cloths, just to cool the kids down! I am so glad this year she has had a lot of breakdowns and thinks now,it's not worth the extra money and her bus is too old-! YEAH---The downside-where I sit,I cannot see the highway (Remember,I am not the driver-LOL)The seats have real high backs, and the driving part, is lower down than us.Anyway, I can only look directly sideways to my right, out that window or to the left over the wheelchairs and today I got drunk, sick.I told Karen,I hope it is to do with the Verigo, that I thought was better and I won't be sick like this until I retire!....I know,I know what you're thinking...I am getting just what I deserve, for being so happy her bus has given her so much trouble!-Toogie

Is this one of those "be careful what you wish for?" LOL
Sorry, I hope your suffering with vertigo ends soon and I'm happy that at least you won't all be in sweltering heat for the year.

It was so hot outside, just imagine the heat inside a tin can! It was worse than breathing with the heater on,because it was like you weren't getting ENOUGH air.I am thankful but I am trying to think how I could raise my seat to at least see over the others toward the front of the bus.If I can at least see, the way the motion is going,I am not so dizzy/car sick.I have a slab of foam, but I placed it in my dining room chairs and it just goes flat-lol-If I could find a thick piece of plastic, like an ice chest lid (if that would be thick enough,I need about 6" up) I could cut it (?) and cover it with the foam slab.I would probally need one for underneath the plastic too,so it wouldn't cut into their seat . Any ideas????

Hey,I feel like the kids, when the hairdresser/barber would place a board, across the arms of the chair,to raise them up.Maybe I could either sit on the floor or put a board across the seats for me to sit on-LOL- I am sure the bus service and the insurance company would love to see that on our bus cameras!-lol

I'll try to remember to look around and see if I can think of any solutions. I used to have a cooler with a round top years ago, but don't even know if they make them anymore.

Oh you poor thing. It's so nice to have AC and so wonderful that you went the extra mile to try to keep the kids comfy in the heat. But not nice at all to be sick each school day.

It's great to hear ALL of us will! I thought I'd smother but felt really bad for our kids.I got overheated several times, and some of our kids can't communicate,so I just tried to keep them cool.
