I spent all yesterday afternoon looking for a piece of white fabric that I last saw a few months back & now can't find where I put it.Didn't find it or a book that also has got itself lost but discovered that there are 13 clear plastic boxes , 4 large striped bags & several draws of fabric scattered through cupboards in 3 rooms.Also a large striped bag of knitting yarn.Did find some fabric suitable for a curtain for the window in the garage but it is white,at least it is out of a box.

Guess there must be 20 yrs of sewing etc ahead to use all this up.Hope the eyes last that long

I know, it's in that "safe place" where you'll be sure to know where it is when you need it, along with all my stuff I can't find. Sometimes I think if I'd just left it where it was originally (even if it was the middle of the kitchen table) at least I'd know where it was. But no, I have to put it in a "safe place" so I can be sure to find it. If I ever find that "safe place", I may turn out to be a rich woman, cause I'll probably find all the stuff my Mom put there for 40 years, too, hee hee hee. Hugs, Marji

I know it is definitely not downstairs especially in the kitchen.My husband does the cooking & because I have to clean up ,he leaves such a mess behind it would end up with greasy fingerprints on it.

I think I must be the odd one out. Our house is fairly small so I do not have a sewing room where I can leave everything out. Everything is put away each time I sew. Therefore there is a place for everything. I am also a tidy freak!!!!

You and me both! A place for everything and everything in its place!!!! Love Chris. (That's why everything is so easy to locate in my room.)

When so many people share your 'dilemma' then we must all be normal.... :}

I think part of our purchasing so much fabric is a denial of our mortality. I'm sure there will be several years of fabric left when I'm gone and I have only single sons, so no one interested in the fabric or machine. Still trying to convince the younger son I want grandchildren in the proper order (engagement, marriage, pause, grands.)

Very few children seem to do things in the proper order.Just be happy when something happens.Men seem to marry younger women ,so the wait will be even longer for the grands

I understand all too well how you felt looking for that fabric. I have been looking for a pair of scissors for 3 days now.

Just after Xmas I couldn't find the template for my Quilters hoop , looked everywhere for it ,even rang up a friend who I had given some magazines to for her GDs to cut up just incase it was amongst them,no luck.Month later I trod on it,it had slipped off the bed & was between one of the boxes & the bedspread.Had landed vertically & only fell onto the floor after the box had been move.

Maybe there is a club for us to join

One of the places I shop for fabric HAS a club. LOL You get percents off purchases and special invitations to sales.

That woud make it even worse.A few yrs ago a friend & I went to Spotlights (fabric shop) Xmas do,but ended up at Bunnings (hardware etc) looking for glue .All we bought was a weeding tool & something else in Bunnings .We must have everthing else that Spotlight had

Afraid I'm with you there. I would swear the fabric/yarn/thread/supplies/files grow while I'm not looking and if I worked 20 years on the stacks, they'd probably have continued growing during that time and I'd still have enough for another 10. Wish my money could grow like that!

Mine grew last year because a place was closing down selling fabrics $3 metre ,zips 10 for $1 etc. Also garden was wrecked when the place behind was demolished ,it went from rain forrest to desert because the shade provided by their trees disappeared & it was the hottest yr on record.After a yr & a lot of work it is nearly back to normal
