I just figured out where to put all those hook & eyes & snaps that I keep loosing. I loose these & then buy more then I find them,YIKES! finally I found this little pill tin with 8 spots to hold these itty bitty parts now I will know just where there are. If only I could come up with a better way to keep my threaded needles? sigh......

General comment about organizing. I throw everything that might be useful for organizing into a medium sized plastic tub. Empty thread spools (for ribbons), candy tins with sections for the candies, nut containers with nice plastic lids (great for empty bobbins), Toilet tissue tubes (a small selection!). Then, when something in the sewing room seems out of control, I dig into this box to solve the problem. Also, when I go to the thrift/resale shops and I see an organizer, I buy it and throw it in the box too. It's unreal what people discard in the way of organizers. There's a nice white covered wire three step thingy for your spice and food cans that is PERFECT for the megaspools of thread and they display so you can see about 12 colors at once, in a small space.

Great idea. Looks a bit like some beading containers I have seen around.

There is a blue & white round thing for putting threaded needles in. Quilters use it. I am not a quilter so don't recall what it is called, sorry.
I put my threaded needles on the front of my fabric scissor holder for when I am doing a lot of hand sewin

I just keep lots of hand sewing needles loaded with white bobbin thread in one side of my pincushion for when the hand stitching mood hits me. I recycle a lot of all cotton shirts into applique fabrics and I cut off all the button sets and stitch the set together in a double loop before tossing in the button jar.

I do that too, will buy it again and sometimes if I don't get my project done I will lose again. It's a vicious cycle. lol

Great idea. We are moving in a few months and I have been saving the small coffee tins for small items. They are so easy to lose when packed in big boxes.

I have a strip of magnetic tape on the door to a thread cabinet I stick my threaded needles to. Bad grammar, but you get the idea!!

oh wow this is a great idea! Thanks Gerry I would have never thought of this! Like a knife thing right?

pldc by pldc 12 Feb 2014

can you take a picture so I can see what it really is? Please & thank you

gerryb by gerryb 12 Feb 2014

It's just a strip of that self stick magnetic tape you get in the craft dept of almost any store. comes on a roll. I just cut it to fit the inside of the little door! Needles are so light weight, they don't pull it off. But if you still want a picture, I'll take one.
